DNV has signed a classification contract with offshore wind vessel owner Edda Wind for two new Commissioning Service Operation Vessels (CSOVs). The contract was signed Wednesday at the Nor-Shipping trade event in Oslo, Norway.The vessels, being constructed to serve offshore wind farms during commissioning and operation, will be built at Colombo Dockyard in Sri Lanka. Offshore Wind: Edda Wind Orders Three Commissioning Service Operation Vessels

Orange Marine Orders Cable Repair Vessel

French submarine cables services company Orange Marine has ordered a new cable repair vessel for delivery in 2023.The specialized newbuild was designed by VARD in Norway and will be built at Sri Lankan shipyard Colombo Dockyard. The 1,800 dwt vessel is 100 meters long with a beam of 18.8 meters and a depth of 7.15 meters. Wärtsilä to Deliver Hybrid Propulsion Solutions for Misje Bulk Carrier Trio

Finnish marine equipment and technology provider Wärtsilä has won a contract to deliver an integrated hybrid propulsion solution for three new Misje Rederi bulk carriers. Wärtsilä said its extensive experience in marine hybrid propulsion solutions "will enable a greatly decreased emissions footprint for three newbuild eco-friendly 5,000 dwt bulk carriers." The 90 meters long ships are being built at the Colombo Dockyard in Sri Lanka for Misje Eco Bulk, a unit of Norway based Misje Rederi group.

Colombo Dockyard to Build Six Bulk Carriers for Misje

Sri Lanka shipbuilder Colombo Dockyard PLC (CDPLC) said it is moving toward executing an already signed contract with Misje Eco Bulk AS to build a series of six bulk carriers, with options for up to four additional vessels. Colombo Dockyard PLC (CDPLC) delivered the first ever modern Cable Laying Vessel built for Kokusai Cable Ship Co. Ltd. (KCS) Japan, on June 21, 2019. Sri Lanka, Korea Pact on BWMS

Sri Lanka's leading ship repair, ship building, heavy engineering and offshore engineering facility Colombo Dockyard PLC (CDPLC)  inked an agreement with PANASIA, Korea as a partner for Ballast Water Management Systems (BWMS) and Scrubber installation.This collaboration with PANASIA will allow Colombo Dockyard to offer this service of installation of BWMS and Scrubbers to its clientele, said a press release from the ship building company is based in Colombo.Colombo Dockyard has already installed eight Numbers PANASIA Ballast Water Management Systems on its new construction vessels; this is an added positive factor for ship owners to look at Colombo Dockyard confidently for repair and installation solutions of BWMS.

Colombo Dockyard to Build Two Vessels for Iraq

The leader of Shipbuilding Industry in Sri Lanka Colombo Dockyard PLC (CDPLC) has successfully secured a contract with Toyota Tsusho Corporation (TTC) of Japan to build two vessels; Pilot Station Vessel and Buoy Tender Vessel, for General Company for Port of Iraq (GCPI). TTC and GCPI signed the Prime Contract on 27th April 2018 in Dubai. Subsequent to the signing of the Prime Contract, TTC signed the Sub Contract Agreement with CDPLC as TTC’s preferred Shipyard for the construction of these vessels on 2nd May 2018 in Japan. TTC is a trading and investing company which is also a group company of TOYOTA. By recognizing the potential of CDPLC, TTC decided to collaborate with CDPLC for this project to compete and submit bid proposals in response to a tender floated by GCPI in July 2017.

Sri Lanka Approves $180 mln Vessel Deal for Colombo Dockyard

Sri Lanka's cabinet has approved the awarding of a $180 million deal for three offshore patrol vessels for the country's coast guard to Colombo Dockyard , a government document said on Wednesday. Colombo Dockyard has agreed to arrange a loan for the deal, with 40 percent provided by the Japanese Funding Institution of JBIC, another 40 percent from Bank of Tokyo Mitsubishi UFJ, and the rest from a tied commercial term loan facility, the document said. Dockyard, located in Colombo port, is Sri Lanka’s largest engineering facility in the business of ship repair, shipbuilding, heavy engineering and offshore engineering. (Reporting by Shihar Aneez)

SCI Acquires a Secondhand PSV

The Shipping Corporation of India Ltd. (SCI) accepted delivery of a secondhand Multipurpose Support Vessel (MPSV) M.V. “SCI Sabarmati” today i.e. 18th November, 2016 at Singapore. This vessel is 2013 built, at Colombo Dockyard Ltd., and had lately carried out necessary modification to serve as MPSV. The vessel is SPS compliant and can be dynamically positioned (DP-2), having a gross tonnage of 3,306 Metric Tonnes and deadweight of 3,352.31 Metric tonnes. The vessel is dual classed with LR and IRS and has been built to comply with latest international regulations. With this strategic acquisition as part of Capex 2016-17, SCI’s Offshore fleet has increased to 10 vessels and SCI’s fleet strength has increased to 69 vessels of 5.85 million DWT

MacGregor Wins Fujian Southeast Shipyard Contract

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has won a contract from Fujian Southeast Shipyard in China to supply deck equipment packages for two 78m anchor-handling/offshore support vessels under construction for Singapore-based Adhart Shipping Pte Ltd. The order was booked into fourth quarter 2014 order intake. The 12,000 bhp, 150 tonne bollard pull vessels are intended for operations in Asia/Pacific, the Middle East and West Africa. Delivery is scheduled for October and November 2015, with options for six further vessels. Each MacGregor equipment package includes a medium pressure anchor windlass/mooring winch, capstans, tugger winches, storage reels, a provisions crane and power packs.

Wärtsilä Propulsion and Design for Two OSVs

Two new 150-ton-bollard-pull anchor handling offshore support vessels (AHOSVs) being built at the Colombo Dockyard in Sri Lanka have been designed by Wärtsilä and will be powered by Wärtsilä integrated propulsion systems. The order was placed in August and the equipment is scheduled for fast-track delivery in July 2015. The 78-meter-long vessels will be employed for anchor handling operations in offshore sector applications. The propulsion system selected for the vessels will include a nine-cylinder Wärtsilä 32 engine operating on marine diesel oil (MDO).

(GGOS), a Singapore incorporated subsidiary of Greatship (India) Limited (GIL), which is a wholly owned subsidiary of The Great Eastern Shipping Company Limited has taken delivery of a Platform/ROV  Support Vessel, GREATSHIP RAGINI, from Colombo Dockyard Plc, Sri Lanka. Greatship Ragini is a DP2 vessel, capable of supporting offshore exploration and production and has been built complying with the SPS Code 2008. With the delivery of Greatship Ragini, GIL and its subsidiaries currently own and operate four PSVs, nine AHTSVs, two MPSSVs, six ROVSVs, two jack up rigs and have one 350 feet jack up rig under construction in UAE.

Colombo Dockyard’s Revenues Rise

According to a report from the Sunday Times, Colombo Dockyard, of which Japan's Onomichi Dockyard has a 51% stake, has released its financials for the twelve months to end-December 2010, indicating a group revenue of Rs. 14.5b, compared to Rs. 13.49b for the same period last year. Two More Ships for Colombo Dockyard

According to a report from the Daily News out of Sri Lanka, the Colombo Dockyard undertook to handle two LPG carriers which will generate around $1.6m to the country, Colombo Dockyard Managing Director Mangala Yapa told Daily News Business. The Shipping Corporation of India, owned LPG carriers Nanga Parbat (17,601DWT) and Anapurna (17,601DWT) sister ships called in for lay up and dry docking repairs during February and March 2011 respectively.   (Source: Daily News)

Kirsten, SCI owned LPG “Nanga Parbat” and Mercator, India owned MT.“Harsha Prem”,Sanmar owned MT. “Sanmar Majesty” and Fuel Supplies, Male owned MT. “Hibaru” were undergoing repairs in the yard Jan-Feb. Colombo has been attracting many types of callers, Tanker owner/ managers have been regular visitors who take advantage of the excellent facilities available for tanker owners in this region. This is quite a unique occasion where the yard is handling five significantly sophisticated tankers with extensive work scopes, simultaneously.

Greatship Group Names “Greatship Rohini”

Colombo Dockyard to build Six

According to a report on www.colombopage.com, Sri Lanka's state-owned Colombo Dockyard, won six new shipbuilding projects from Singapore and India. One of the projects is to build four units of 78M Multi-purpose platform supply Vessels to its Singapore Client. John Riding, director of Marico Marine, speaking at Ship Repair & Conversion in London, presents a rosy picture for the future of ship repair by pointing out that freight rates have not been so high for years and some owners, such as bulk carrier operators are enjoying a rare opportunity to seriously invest in maintenance.
