Fleet Xpress on New National Geographic Ship
Inmarsat was chosen to provide connectivity through Fleet Xpress for Lindblad Expeditions-National Geographic’s new adventure cruise ship, National Geographic Venture.The expedition ship, designed to explore the coastal waters, shallow coves and fast-moving channels where wildlife congregates, completed its first cruise around the Galapagos Islands in December 2018 before moving to Baja California. GVF, Intellian Launch Certification for Marine SatCom Operators
In response to strong demand for satellite-based maritime connectivity, Global VSAT Forum (GVF) and Intellian have launched an Intellian Specialist Certification programme, including an initial course in terminal operation, GVF 562N, specifically for seafarers. Intellian, manufacturer of stabilized communications platforms, has launched Specialist Certification programme GVF 562N for seafarers working with its marine stabilised VSAT terminals, including an initial course in terminal operation. Follow-on courses, intended for field technicians, will cover stabilized platform installation and maintenance. Intellian’s marine VSAT terminals offer global broadband coverage to vessels at sea.
Globe Wireless to Acquire SeaWave & Rydex
Globe Wireless has signed an Asset Purchase Agreement to acquire substantially all the assets of SeaWave & Rydex. The transaction is aimed to create a maritime communications end to end solutions, and provide a complete range of services to over 8,000 ships and over 500 ship operators. By combining the Globe Wireless network and total solution with the innovative technology of SeaWave and Rydex the business will provide customers with the complete choice of systems, service and solutions for the next generation of communications platforms.
