Kongsberg Digital Enters K-Sim Connect Partnership with Mintra

Kongsberg Digital (KDI) revealed it has entered into a partnership with digital learning and human capital management software specialist Mintra. The contract enables KDI to provide Mintra with its K-Sim Connect simulations as cloud-based subscription applications for use with the Trainingportal learning and competency management system.In addition to accommodating KDI’s cloud-based simulation as a fundamental facet of its own courses, Mintra will be reselling K-Sim Connect subscriptions through its Marketplace, which is an online platform for buying and selling training.

3T Energy Group Buys Offshore Training Firm Survivex

Technology and training organization 3T Energy Group has acquired Aberdeen-based Survivex, an offshore oil and gas training specialist.Global technology and training organisation said in a press release that it has become the UK’s largest energy sector training provider after acquiring Survivex."This acquisition strengthens 3T Energy Group’s global offering and is part of its strategy to transform the training sector with technology to enable people and companies to work safer, smarter and more efficiently," it said.3T Energy Group was formed earlier in 2018 by bringing together expertise from AIS Training and advanced simulator developer, Drilling Systems.

Mintra Launches OCS HR as a Cloud Service

Already with a solid foothold within the Norwegian maritime sector, OCS HR has now been launched by Mintra Group as a cloud-based service (SaaS – Software as a Service). This means new advantages for customers and makes the software solution immediately available internationally to other key sectors. Finalists of Global OSCC Award Announced

THE top three international employers and training providers shortlisted to compete to be crowned winners at the annual OPITO Safety and Competency Awards in Kuala Lumpur have been announced today (28th September, 2016). Shell Nigeria, Oil Spill Response Limited (OSRL) and McDermott are shortlisted in the Employer of the Year category, while PT Sampson Tiara, Wild Geese and Grupo Stier have been named in the OPITO approved Training Provider of the Year section. The winning companies in each category will be unveiled during the 2016 OPITO Safety & Competency Conference (OSCC), in partnership with PETRONAS, at The Royale Chulan, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on Wednesday 16th November.

Can Company Strategies Enhance Competence?

Capt Pradeep Chawla, Managing Director QHSE & Training, Anglo-Eastern Ship Management Ltd., delivered a theme address at the World Maritime Day symposium on "Shipping's future needs people: Is global maritime education and training on course?". Following is the Edited Abstract of his paper which discusses the strategies and efforts of a Ship Management company, to enhance competence of the seafarers through a comprehensive company training program. Competence is generally defined as ‘the ability to do something successfully or efficiently’. It is generally accepted that both knowledge and skill are required to be competent. IMO is the guardian of the maritime industry and has tirelessly worked since 1978 to bring about one common standard of training of the seafarers worldwide.

Weston Appointed Manager at Survival Craft

Survival Craft Inspectorate (SCI), a global provider of emergency marine systems and support services, said it has made a key appointment as it targets further growth in 2014. David Weston has been appointed training and competence operations manager at the business, which recently opened its 12th office in Rotterdam. As well as his company-wide auditing role, David – who served in the RAF for 22 years – heads up the new Survival Craft Inspectorate Training Academy in Stonehaven.

RINA Invests in Crew Training

RINA has invested in crew training in a bid to help owners overcome the major challenge of manning their growing fleets. Today marks the opening of the Manila-based Italian Training Academy Phils Inc, a training school which will provide top-level training and assessment for up to 480 crew members per year. Roberto Cazzulo, Deputy Director of the Marine Division and responsible for International Affairs for RINA says, “The biggest challenge facing shipowners today is a shortage of high-quality crew. Italian owners have been investing heavily in new ships and their fleets are growing, but they need a reliable source of high-quality manpower to crew the ships. RINA has invested in the Academy along with Italian shipowners’ association CONFITARMA, and Manila-based Elburg Ship Management.
