Havyard Jumps to the Fore on Hydrogen

"If Norway and the rest of the world are to achieve the emission reduction goals, we need solutions that can reduce emissions towards zero. Havyard said that its complete hydrogen system for ships will be completed in 2021, and to that end the group is establishing a separate company to meet market demand for the solution, which will make it possible also for large ships to sail longer distances with zero emissions. Carnival Corporation announced its Germany-based brand, AIDA Cruises, has partnered with leaders from the maritime and engineering sectors to pilot the world’s first fuel cell system designed to power large passenger vessels. Titan LNG, Fluxys to Build FlexFueler 002

Belgium-based natural gas transmission system operator Fluxys and Netherlands-based Titan LNG have joined forces to build the FlexFueler 002, a bunkering pontoon to make liquefied natural gas (LNG) more widely available as shipping fuel in the Antwerp port and region.Shipyard Kooiman, Zwijndrecht, The Netherlands, was contracted to build the FlexFueler 002. The pontoon, which is scheduled to be commissioned by mid-2020, will measure 76.4 x 11.45 m and is equipped with four vacuum insulated type C cargo tanks of 370 cu. m. each, to carry liquid LNG. The pontoon is not self propelled but for assistance in maneuvering a bow thruster is installed.

Chevron, ExxonMobil, Occidental Petroleum Join Oil and Gas Climate Initiative

The Oil and Gas Climate Initiative (OGCI) announced three new member companies that together represent 5% of global oil and gas production as it welcomed Chevron Corporation, Exxon Mobil Corporation, and Occidental Petroleum.The three new companies will become official members of OGCI as of September 24, 2018.With these additions, OGCI members now represent around 30% of global oil and gas production and supply close to 20% of global primary energy consumption. Dunkerque-Port Gets “PERS” Certification From Ecoports Network

In line with the commitments of the PA2D (Sustainable Development and Action Plan), Dunkerque-Port has just received the EcoPorts network's PERS certification (Port Environmental Review System), granted by the ESPO (European Sea Ports Organisation). This environmental management certification, specific to the port sector, attests to correct compliance with current rules and standards, and rewards involvement in projects and initiatives for better environmental performance in ports. This European recognition also stresses the environmental and innovative actions that have been carried out by Dunkerque-Port for nearly ten years as part of its activities.

Antwerp Port, Fluxys Team Up for CO2 Capture

The climate target of getting Belgian CO2 emissions 35% lower by 2030 is a formidable challenge. In this context Antwerp Port Authority and gas infrastructure operator Fluxys believe strongly that carbon capture, storage and reuse by industry is an important weapon in the fight against climate change. They are therefore teaming up to take further practical steps that will help give shape to the energy transition. In the first phase, Antwerp Port Authority and Fluxys are studying the feasibility of solutions for capturing CO2 from industry in the port, transporting it by pipeline or ship and finally re-using or storing it. If the results of the feasibility study are positive then the aim is to jointly promote practical projects.

Danish Projects Boost Maritime Digitalization

Digital nautical charts and better communication at sea are some of the concrete solutions that can boost the development of the maritime sector. Danish Minister for Industry, Business and Financial Affairs, Brian Mikkelsen, is pleased with the prospects of more digital cooperation across the EU when the results of the digitalization project are being presented at a conference in Copenhagen today and tomorrow. Representatives from the maritime sector are gathered today for the final conference of the digitalization project EfficienSea2. For the last three years, partners across the EU have been working together to find solutions that can bring the digitalization of the maritime world forward.

Kvaerner Contractors to provide engineering, procurement & construction (EPC) services for the Hebron Project gravity based structure (GBS). ExxonMobil Canada Properties has released the option for Kvaerner's joint venture company Kiewit-Kvaerner Contractors to provide the full scope of engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services for the Hebron Project gravity based structure (GBS). The contract value for Kvaerner's share of the full EPC contract is approximately USD 1.5 billion and includes work conducted to date on the Hebron project.
