Callais Joins Conrad Board of Directors

Conrad Industries Announces Appointment of Larry J. Conrad Industries' Backlog Soars $199m in 1H '22

During the first six months of 2022, Conrad Industries, Inc. added $198.8 million of backlog to its new construction segment compared to $60.8 million added to backlog during the first six months of 2021. Conrad’s backlog was $245.1 million at June 30, 2022, the second-highest backlog in our company’s history, $148.5 million at December 31, 2021 and $170.9 million at June 30, 2021. Since the end of the second quarter the company has signed an additional $34.9 million in contracts.

It’s European Design, But Built For The Jones Act Market

The Netherlands-based Damen Shipyards Group is one of the industry’s largest and most recognized shipbuilders, perhaps best known for its standardized, serial production workboats. Now with several dozen newbuild and repair yards on the map, the company has produced more than 6,000 vessels over its 90-year history—from harbor tugs and offshore supply ships, to ferries and patrol craft. But Damen does not have a shipyard in the United States, and therefore doesn’t directly build vessels for the Jones Act market. Instead, it licenses its designs to U.S.

Conrad to Build Damen Multi Cats for Great Lakes Dredge & Dock

U.S. shipbuilder Conrad Industries has signed a license agreement with the Netherlands-based Damen Shipyards Group to build two Damen Multi Cats 3013 for Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Corporation.The two vessels covered by this agreement will be the first Damen Multi Cats to be built in the U.S. Fully compliant with the U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers stability criteria, the versatile Multi Cat is the ideal platform for dredging support operations."This is a milestone moment for the U.S.

Shipbuilders Council Announces Shipyard Safety Awards

The Shipbuilders Council of America (SCA), the national association representing the U.S. shipyard industry, today announced the 2020 annual shipyard safety awards. SCA honors shipbuilding and repair organizations with the “Excellence in Safety” Award and “Improvement in Safety” Award each year for enhancement of operations and promotion of safety and accident prevention.Over the past several years, the industry has seen the total recordable incident rate steadily decline, with the most significant decline seen in 2019.

Conrad Industries announced for the quarter ended June 30, 2019, it had net loss of $2.2 million and loss per diluted share of $0.44 compared to net income of $4.7 million and earnings per diluted share of $0.94 during the second quarter of 2018. The company had net loss of $2.5 million and loss per diluted share of $0.50 for the six months ended June 30, 2019 compared to net income of $5.3 million and earnings per diluted share of $1.06 for the six months ended June 30, 2018. Conrad Backlog at $122.7m

Conrad Industries, Inc. (OTC Pink: CNRD) announced for the quarter ended March 31, 2019, it had a net loss of $307,000 and loss per diluted share of $0.06 compared to net income of $586,000 and earnings per diluted share of $0.12 during the first quarter of 2018.Conrad’s backlog was $122.7 million at March 31, 2019 compared to $127.7 million at December 31, 2018 and $106.2 million at March 31, 2018.

Conrad Industries Announces 2017 Results and Backlog

Conrad Industries, Inc. (OTC Pink: CNRD) has announced its fourth quarter and twelve months 2017 results and backlog. For the quarter ended December 31, 2017, Conrad had net loss of $3.4 million and loss per diluted share of $0.67 compared to net loss of $836,000 and loss per diluted share of $0.15 during the fourth quarter of 2016. The company had net loss of $2.1 million and loss per diluted share of $0.42 for the twelve months ended December 31, 2017 compared to net loss of $1.7 million and loss per diluted share of $0.33 for the twelve months ended December 31, 2016.

First of Three New ATBs Delivered for Vane Brothers

The Vane Brothers Company continues to expand its fleet with new vessel construction. This February, the marine transportation company took delivery of the first of three new ATB tugs from the Conrad Orange Shipyard in Orange, Texas. The first boat is the Assateague, and the other two boats will be the Chincoteague and Wachapreague. Designed by Greg Castleman of Castleman Maritime, LLC, located in League City, Texas, each 110-foot by 38-foot tug is being mated to an 80,000-barrel barges designed by Bristol Harbor Group and being built by Conrad Industries of Amelia, La.

Best Workboats of 2017

Marine News showcases the best of North America’s 2017 workboat deliveries. There is something for everyone. Notwithstanding the lingering offshore energy downturn, there were plenty of bright spots for North American shipyards in 2017. If a hull was delivered in 2017, we took a look at it, with several areas as a focus for inclusion into this edition. For starters, it is always exciting when a domestic yard delivers a vessel – or multiple vessels, for that matter – to foreign buyers. We can compete in a foreign arena; on price, quality and on-time delivery. This year was no different. No less important is the environmental footprint of a vessel, and there was plenty to report on from that angle in the past 12 months. The domestic waterfront is indeed getting greener and cleaner.

Conrad Reports 2Q Profit of $1.4 Mln

For the quarter ended June 30, 2017, U.S. shipbuilder Conrad Industries, Inc. reported a net income of $1.4 million and earnings per diluted share of $0.27, up from $1.3 million and earnings per diluted share of $.25 for the second quarter of 2016. The company’s net income for the six months ended June 30, 2017 was $1.5 million with earnings per diluted share of $0.29, down from $3.9 million and earnings per diluted share of $.74 for same period last year. Conrad said results for the quarter and six months ended June 30, 2016 included research and development tax credits of $0.6 million and $1.2 million, respectively, while no research and development tax credits are included in the results for the 2017 periods.

Conrad Shipyard Founder Parker Conrad Passed Away

John Parker Conrad, Sr., founder of Conrad Shipyard, died peacefully on July 6 surrounded by family and friends at his home in Morgan City, La. He was 101 years old. A shipbuilding pioneer and a legend along the Gulf of Mexico coast and beyond, Parker founded Conrad Industries in 1948. Conrad now has five shipyards along the Louisiana-Texas coast. From age 12 to age 17, Parker trained as a Christian Brother, which formed in him a deeply rooted and lifelong commitment to others.

Conrad Declares Dividend

Conrad Industries, Inc. which provides both repair and new construction services at its five shipyards located in southern Louisiana and Texas, announced today that its Board of Directors has declared a quarterly dividend of $0.10 per share of common stock. The dividend is payable on June 14, 2016 to shareholders of record on May 24, 2016. Established in 1948 and headquartered in Morgan City, Louisiana, Conrad Industries designs, builds and overhauls tugboats, ferries, liftboats, barges, offshore supply vessels and other steel and aluminum products for both the commercial and government markets.

New Ferry MV Woods Hole Delivered

The newly built ferry M/V Woods Hole has been delivered to serve Woods Hole, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket. Built by Conrad Industries of Morgan City, La., the Elliott Bay Design Group (EBDG) designed ferry is the naval architects’ second design for The Steamship Authority. EBDG's scope for the project included extensive concept design, which proceeded to a design validation with CFD and towing tank development of the hull form, propulsion selection studies and passenger egress validation from the evacuation system.

The bold blue “V” logo emblazoned on the green-banded white stack continues to proliferate on American waterways. Vane Brothers Company has been expanding its fleet with new construction. Recently the marine transportation company announced a contract for three ATB tugs to be built at the Conrad Orange Shipyard in Orange, Texas. Smith Berger Tow Pins Lead the Way

Smith Berger Marine, Inc. said it has been selected by Edison Chouest Offshore to design and manufacture the Tow Pin Stern Roller units required on its nine new vessels, including five escort tugs and four docking tugs. Edison Chouest is building the new tugs in order to execute a 10-year Ship Escort-Response Vessel System (SERVS) contract with the Alyeska Pipeline Service Company, for which the tugs will provide tanker escort and spill response services in Prince William Sound. The Tow Pin unit has the capacity to sustain 250 tons of line tension and features three individually raised and lowered towing pins, one hold down hook and a 14” diameter stern roller.
