Kalmar Signs Deal with DP World Australia

Kalmar, part of Cargotec, continues its long-term cooperation with DP World Australia, the country's largest stevedore, with orders of 38 new machines for its new logistics arm, DP World Logistics Australia. The orders include 7 Kalmar reachstackers, 11 loaded and 20 empty container handlers. 22 units have successfully been delivered to DP World Logistics Australia's Botany Intermodal terminal with the remaining equipment to be delivered by September 2017. The order was booked into Cargotec's 2017 first quarter intake. The new machines add to DP World Australia's existing fleet of Kalmar rubber-tyred gantry cranes (RTGs), straddle carriers and terminal tractors and will serve operations in Sydney, Melbourne, Fremantle and DP World Australia's semi-automated terminal in Brisbane.

Newpark Drilling Fluids Opens Technology Center

Newpark Drilling Fluids held a grand opening ceremony for its Newpark Technology Center in Katy, Texas. The celebration commenced with skydivers parachuting in while displaying American, Texas and Newpark flag replicas, followed by a flag raising ceremony conducted by the United States Army Color Guard and a ribbon cutting with Newpark executives as well. Festivities then continued indoors with tours of the center and its expansive laboratory facilities. APM Terminals Opens in VA

APM Terminals Virginia officially opened its new $450m, 291-acre container terminal (on 576 acres of land) to serve customers in the Hampton Roads region. This maritime center, the third-largest container terminal in the United States, is capable of handling 1 million twenty- foot-equivalent units (TEU) annually and has the potential to expand to handle a capacity of more than 2 million TEU. The terminal will serve as an economic engine for new business in the region. New technology at the terminal is designed to keep workers and drivers safe, while expediting cargo movement through use of the newest, most advanced handling equipment. The highly efficient, “green design” of the facility incorporates energy-saving and emissions-conscious technology into the equipment and the terminal.
