World First: Hydrogen Tug at Antwerp Port

Europe's second-largest seaport Port of Antwerp has ordered construction of a tug powered by hydrogen, the first in the world.The unique "Hydrotug" is driven by combustion engines that burn hydrogen in combination with diesel. The motors also comply with the very strictest standard, the EU Stage V, making them the lowest-rated for emissions on the market.The Belgium-based port operator said that this ultra-low-emission tug is being built by Compagnie Maritime Belge (CMB), a pioneer in the field of hydrogen power for shipping. With this world first Antwerp is making an important step in the transition to a sustainable, CO2-neutral port.By lending support to this promising technology Port of Antwerp hopes that the shipping industry will follow.

GTT’s Bunker Ship Concept Granted 2nd AIP

Classification society Bureau Veritas has granted Approval in Principle (AIP) to a 4,000-cubic-meter Bunkering Ship concept developed by France’s LNG containment manufacturer, GTT. The concept, which has now received its second AIP following the one issued yesterday by Lloyd’s Register, is for a bunker tanker which could deliver LNG as ship’s fuel using tanks with a GTT Mark III Flex Cargo Containment system operating up to a pressure of 2 barg. Over 200 Feet, Over 10,000 HP: McCall Builds Bigger

Just as all the company’s crewboats carry the McCall name, they also carry the imprints of Joe McCall’s constant search for excellence and innovation. Son of the McCall Boat founder, Joe McCall is today the Project Manager at SEACOR Marine, a subsidiary of SEACOR Holdings. With a long history in the development of the mono-hulled aluminum crew boats, McCall has been experimenting with an exciting group of catamarans in recent years. Now, while continuing that project, the firm has announced the building of four mono-hulled fast supply boats. The boats set new standards in size as has been expected by industry observers.
