NextGeo Taps Frank Koopman as Offshore Wind Strategy Director

Marine geosciences and offshore construction support services company NextGeo has appointed Frank Koopman as Offshore Wind Strategy Director.Koopman is an experienced executive and leader in the offshore energy sector, with over 20 years of experience in leading complex organizations, projects and innovation programs. Mobile, Ala. repair yard Alabama Shipyard, LLC announced it has appointed Greg Wagner as its new chief executive officer (CEO).Wagner is joining the Alabama Shipyard team from the position of CEO at Navarro Capital Partners LLC., an oil and gas industry marine and subsea construction support services provider.Wagner is a graduate from the State University of New York Maritime College and has held various management and executive positions in marine operations, business development, and project and asset management.

DOF Scores North Sea Hat-trick

Norwegian subsea operating company DOF Subsea has been awarded three new contracts in the North Sea.The first of these contracts will see DOF Subsea undertake a workscope in the Norwegian North Sea involving subsea construction support and pre-commissioning operations from the Geosund during December 2018.In addition, the company has been awarded a contract for the initial phase of a decommissioning programme in the central North Sea for a U.K. operator, said a press release from the company.Under this contract DOF Subsea will provide construction support services for activities relating to the permanent disconnection and removal of an FPSO.

Deltamarin Wins Contract for Viking Line Newbuild

Deltamarin Ltd said it has signed contracts with Chinese shipbuilder Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry Co., Ltd (XSI) for engineering and construction support services for the Viking Line Liquefied natural gas (LNG) fuelled ro-pax vessel newbuilding. The contracts cover basic and detail design as well as comprehensive project management support and supervision services to the shipyard during vessel construction. The new ro-pax vessel for Viking Line will have a passenger capacity of 2,800 people, and the length of its cargo lanes will be 1,500 meters.

Bibby Subsea Inks Contract with Bordelon Marine

Bibby Offshore’s Houston-based division, Bibby Subsea has signed a three year contract with Bordelon Marine to charter a new vessel. The Brandon Bordelon is an ultra-light intervention vessel (ULIV) and will commence a three year charter in August 2015 primarily operating in the Gulf of Mexico. The addition of the Brandon Bordelon to Bibby Offshore’s existing international fleet of specialised vessels enhances the capability throughout the Americas region. The purpose built, high specification Brandon Bordelon vessel provides a versatile and cost effective approach to a variety of operations, including IMR operations (inspection, maintenance and repair), light construction, survey and inspection work.

UPI Wins Engineering Contract from Dominion Resources

Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) subsidiary UniversalPegasus International (UPI) was awarded the engineering services contract for the Pleasant Valley Compressor Station Project in Virginia by Dominion Resources. The value of the transaction was not disclosed.   The Pleasant Valley Compressor Station Project is a modification of the existing compressor station to accommodate increasing customer demand. UPI will provide detailed engineering and construction support services for the project.

Technip Further Optimizes its Subsea Assets

Technip signed today an agreement to sell 100% of its North American diving assets to Ranger Offshore Inc.(1). Technip’s strategy focuses on high technology and ultra-deep water products and services. Proceeds from this divestment will be partially reinvested directly into Technip's Subsea business, specifically focusing on improvements to the rigid pipe fabrication facility (spoolbase) in Mobile, Alabama, USA. The sale to Ranger Offshore will facilitate the growth and development of their diving business with the addition of these subsea assets that have been in continuous operation in North America since 1973. As part of this transaction, Technip and Ranger Offshore have entered into a multiyear Diving Services Agreements covering Technip’s North America Region.

Swiber Wins Big Latin America EPIC Contract

Construction & support services provider to the offshore oil and gas industry, Singapore's Swiber Holidngs, says it has won an Engineering, Procurement, Installation and Construction (“EPIC”) contract in Latin America for subsea development work including pipeline tie-in work, with an aggregate value of US$80-million. The project will commence immediately and is expected to complete in 2015. Robert Allan Ltd. Contracted for Teekay FSO Conversion

Robert Allan Ltd. announced that it was selected by Teekay Shipping (Canada) Ltd. to provide the contract engineering package for the conversion of the M/V Navion Clipper from a shuttle tanker into a Floating Storage and Offloading (FSO) unit. Teekay Offshore Partners LLP, a subsidiary of Teekay Corporation, was awarded a contract in 2013 to supply a FSO unit to the Bualuang Field in the Gulf of Thailand. The contract is for a 10-year charter, with extension options. The oilfield is operated by Salamander Energy and has been in production at this site since 2008. The scope of work from Robert Allan Ltd. includes the design of the crude oil export and import systems (turret design and supply by London Marine Consultants)…

Robert Allan Ltd. says it has been selected by Teekay Shipping (Canada) Ltd. to provide the contract engineering package for the conversion of the M/V Navion Clipper from a shuttle tanker into a Floating Storage and Offloading (FSO) unit. Swiber Holdings Hit the Ground Running in 2014

Construction & support services provider to the offshore oil and gas industry, Singapore's Swiber Holdings Limited (Swiber), announce they have already been awarded 5 sizeable contracts in 2014. Three of these contract, which amounted to approximately US$145-million, were awarded for works that will be executed in Latin America and Southeast Asia. The remaining two contracts, which aggregated to approximately US$90-million, were awarded to Swiber’s associate company and joint venture company, and are for services that will be executed in Southeast Asia.

Swiber Reports Profitable First Half 2013

Singapore's Swiber Holdings construction & support services providers to the offshore oil and gas industry, reported that net profit in the half year ended June 30, 2013 rose 11.8% to US$37.4 million from US$33.5 million in the half year ended June 30, 2012. Staten Island Ferry Seeks Design Consultant

The New York City Department of Transportation (“DOT”) released an RFP (PIN – 84112SISI627)  on behalf of its Ferry Division for the total design and construction support services for the construction of new and modified Staten Island Ferries. DOT intends to construct new ferry vessels to replace the existing Barberi and Kennedy class ferries based on the design developed by the consultant selected through this RFP. The selected consultant could also be tasked with designing enhancements to the existing Molinari class ferries. Sealed proposal must be submitted by 2:00 PM on August 17, 2012 to the Contract Management Unit at 55 Water Street, Ground Floor, New York, NY 10041.

U.S. Barge Delivers Combination Deck/Tank Barge

U.S. Barge LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Vigor Industrial LLC, this week will deliver a combination Deck and Tank Barge to NorthStar Gas LLC, an Alaskan Petroleum Distributor. The CAUNEQ was christened on April 15, 2011 and will start making deliveries in May to the Yukon, Kuskokwim and Western Alaska Costal Regions. NorthStar Gas and its operating partner, Delta Western, will use this barge to service customers in Western Alaska, stabilizing the transportation costs of fuel in the region.

Oceaneering Announces New Diving Vessel

Oceaneering International, Inc. (NYSE:OII) announced it has commissioned the construction of a dive support vessel (DSV) with an estimated capital cost of $17m. Oceaneering expects delivery of the 200 ft by 46 ft vessel from a U.S. Gulf Coast shipyard late in the fourth quarter of 2010. The new vessel will replace the Ocean Project, which was built in 1972. This state-of-the-art DSV will be U.S. flagged and outfitted to perform subsea inspection, repair and maintenance (IRM) services and support construction operations in the Gulf of Mexico. The vessel will have built-in diving equipment, including a dive control system and decompression chambers, to maximize the availability of deck space for job specific equipment and to ensure safe working conditions.

Marcon Announces Sale of 175-ft. Diving and Maintenance Vessel

Marcon International, Inc. of Coupeville, Wash. reported that the Estates of TransCoastal Marine Services of Houston, Texas have sold the 4-point mooring vessel Sea Level 21 to Professional Divers, Inc. of New Orleans, La. The 175- x 38-ft., ABS-classed former supply boat was originally built in 1980 by Universal Iron Works and was converted several years ago to support hydrostatic pipe testing and commissioning, jetting, diving, and coring service. Professional Divers has renamed her 4 Point Pony, and with assistance from Bollinger's Lockport shipyard, are refurbishing the vessel and expect to have her ready for service by early March.
