Lithuania's KN Bids for LNG Terminal Operator in Brazil

Lithuania's state-run oil and LNG terminal operator Klaipedos Nafta (Klaipedos Oil, KN) said on Wednesday it’s currently negotiating an operations and maintenance services agreement for a LNG terminal in Brazil with Brazils' Gas Natural Acu (GNA).Under such Agreement KN may commit to incorporate a company in Brazil (hereinafter – Brazilian  SPV) for the provision of such services.For that reason, KN may need to give a guarantee or guarantees to secure the fulfillment of obligations of the Brazilian SPV to GNA (or its legal successor) under the Agreement for the validity period of the Agreement (issuing a guarantee or guarantees for the…

Global shipping and offshore oil and gas operations are increasingly dependent on integrated networks, based on various software and data transfer solutions. Systems and equipment onboard are interconnected, monitored and controlled through an onboard automation network. Onboard systems are increasingly also connected ashore to the owners’ or technology providers’ control centers. Equipment manufacturers want to remotely upgrade the software of their systems and monitor their use to be able to optimize operations and to scheduled needed maintenance service.

Dometic Debuts Engineering Team for Ship-wide Ventilation

Dometic Marine, a division of Dometic Group, a global provider of leisure products for the marine, truck, caravan, motor home and automotive markets, has unveiled its new, dedicated team of ship-wide ventilation experts, who specialize in providing customized design, engineering support and consultation services to the global marine industry. Led by Dometic application engineers Neil Norton and Nelson Frolund, the Dometic Marine ship-wide ventilation team will focus exclusively on designing and implementing installation of smoke and fire dampers, axial fans and blowers, mist eliminators and accessories for boat builders, integrators and owners.

Wärtsilä and Golar LNG Signs Major Contract

Wärtsilä has signed a five-year maintenance agreement with Golar Management Oslo for the delivery of services to Golar LNG, which is one of the world's largest independent owners and operators of LNG tankers. Service agreement includes remote monitoring of engines, maintenance planning, advisory services as well as guaranteed access to personnel and spare parts, Wärtsilä said in a statement. Golar's thirteen LNG carriers and Floating Storage and Regasification Units (FSRU's are all equipped with Wärtsilä engines— 52 engines, in all. This prompted Golar LNG to turn to Wärtsilä for Asset Performance Optimization concepts and solutions. "One of Golar LNG's strategic assets is our operational excellence. We want to maintain the highest standards for safety and reliability.

Wärtsilä to Provide TMA for Golar Fleet

Wärtsilä signed a 5-year Technical Management Agreement with Golar Management Oslo for delivery of services to Golar LNG - one of the largest independent owners and operators of liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers in the world. The service agreement includes remote monitoring of engines, maintenance planning, advisory services, and guaranteed availability of personnel as well as spare parts. Golar LNG operates a fleet of 13 vessels, dedicated to both LNG transportation and midstream floating solutions. The company developed the world's first Floating Storage and Regasification Units (FSRU's) based on the conversion of existing LNG carriers. Golar's LNG carriers and FSRU's are all equipped with Wärtsilä engines, the number of engines totalling at 52.

HII Creates Nuclear Services Company SN3

Combining Huntington Ingalls Industries’ (HII) S.M. Stoller Corp. and Newport News Nuclear subsidiaries, the company has created Stoller Newport News Nuclear (SN3), a full-service nuclear operations and environmental services company. "Formation of SN3 is a logical next step in the post-acquisition process of fully integrating our people and capabilities to achieve our business goals," said Pete Diakun, vice president, energy programs at HII's Newport News Shipbuilding division.

Newport News Shipbuilding Opens S.C. Office

Huntington Ingalls Industries (NYSE:HII) announce that its Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS) division has opened a field office in Aiken, S.C., as part of its continuing efforts to expand the company's business in the Department of Energy and commercial energy markets. NNS leadership joined community leaders to officially open the office with a ribbon-cutting event (see photo). HII explain that the Aiken office will provide a location from which NNS will manage jobs currently under contract in the area and pursue additional opportunities in the energy industry.

Jensen Get Tankship Construction Management Contracts

Jensen Maritime Consultants , Crowley Maritime's Seattle-based naval architecture and marine engineering company, has been awarded a new construction management contract for four new 330,000-barrel, Jones Act product tankers, being built by Aker Philadelphia Shipyard Inc. With construction scheduled to begin in January, Jensen is already establishing on-site offices and personnel at the Philadelphia shipyard to ensure strong working relationships with Aker staff and a seamless construction and delivery program. Delivery of the new veteran class tankers is expected in 2015 and 2016.

ClassNK Launches MLC Consulting Service

April 12 (Tokyo) – ClassNK has begun offering a new consulting service for the International Labour Organization’s Maritime Labour Convention (MLC) 2006. The launch of this new service comes just as shipowners are beginning to practically address the requirements of the new convention, and as ClassNK moves to expand its services in maritime consulting. The MLC lays out a broad range of new regulations covering the working conditions and living environments of ships crews, and will enter effect 12 months after being formally ratified.
