First Hybrid Straddle Carriers at Hamburg Port
The port of Hamburg has for the first time introduced two straddle carriers with environmentally friendly hybrid engines.The first two energy saving, low emissions straddle carriers with hybrid engines are being used to transport containers between the ship, the yard, the rail terminal and the truck gate at the HHLA Container Terminal Tollerort (CTT).According to a press release frm the company, the two prototypes are expected to use at least 15 percent less diesel than their predecessors. Montecon Adds Third Liebherr to its Fleet
Liebherr Maritime Cranes already delivered two Liebherr mobile harbor cranes LHM 800 in container configuration to Montecon in Uruguay. End of November Liebherr received an order from Montecon for the third LHM 800 that will start operation in Montevideo, Uruguay next year.In 2015 Montecon ordered the first giant mobile harbor cranes, type LHM 800 in container operation. Due to their increasing demand for mobile container handling solutions, they subsequently ordered a second unit. Both cranes were delivered in 2016.
HHLA Orders 14 Kalmar Straddle Carriers
Hamburg terminal operator HHLA (Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG) has placed an order with Cargotec for 14 Kalmar 7+ generation ESC350W diesel-electric straddle carriers. The new machines, acknowledged as the most environmentally friendly model offered by Cargotec, will be deployed at HHLA's Container Terminal Burchardkai (CTB) facility and will be delivered in September this year. The new straddle carriers feature Selective Catalytic Reduction engine technology, designed to meet Stage 3B engine emissions requirements that came into force in the European Union earlier this year.
