HII Acquires Camber Corp

Huntington Ingalls Industries (NYSE:HII) announced today that it has completed its previously announced acquisition of Camber Corporation and formed a new operating division, HII Technical Solutions. Continental Maritime of San Diego (CMSD), a ship repair subsidiary of Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII), has been awarded the Blue Sky Award by San Diego County’s Air Pollution Control District APCD for its initiatives targeting reduced air pollution. The APCD annually recognizes one small, one medium and one large business or organization for efforts toward improving air quality. Ingalls Authenticates Keel of Amphibious Assault Ship

Huntington Ingalls Industries authenticated the keel today for the future multipurpose amphibious assault ship USS Tripoli (LHA 7). The warship is under construction at the company's Ingalls Shipbuilding division and was officially authenticated by its sponsor, Lynne Mabus, wife of U.S. Navy Secretary Ray Mabus, and Steve Senk, an HII employee who was awarded the Silver Star for his actions to save the second USS Tripoli (LPH 10) after the ship struck a mine during Operation Desert Storm. Big Navy Refit Job Begins in San Diego

The Navy's amphibious assault ship 'USS Essex' is dry docked at General Dynamics NASSCO for at least $150 million in repairs and upgrades. USS Essex, which displaces more than 40,000 tons when loaded for combat, is the biggest Navy ship that can fit into dry dock at NASSCO, the last major shipbuilder on the West Coast, reports U-T San Diego. Cleveland Ship Bids for Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding

According to an Oct. 5 report from The Virginian-Pilot, a Cleveland-based firm has bid to acquire the entire shipbuilding unit of Northrop Grumman Corp., including the big shipyard in Newport News that builds aircraft carriers and submarines for the Navy. Flood Promoted

Northrop Grumman Corporation announced that Dan Flood has been promoted to general manager of Continental Maritime, a subsidiary of its Newport News sector. Flood, who previously served as vice president for Business Acquisition, will oversee operations at the facility effective Feb. 1. He will replace Dave McQueary, the current president of Continental Maritime, who is retiring after 18 years with the West Coast shipyard. Flood will report to Irwin F. Midway Brought Back to Life

Northrop Grumman Corporation helped restore the historic aircraft carrier USS Midway (CVA-41) for the San Diego Aircraft Carrier Museum. The Midway was built by Northrop Grumman's Newport News sector and delivered to the U.S. Navy in 1945. After serving nearly 50 years, the ship was decommissioned in 1992 and is now being converted into a museum and memorial. Last November, the San Diego Aircraft Carrier Museum asked all shipyards in the area for support for the Midway project by repairing and restoring three brow platforms and two brows.

Northrop Grumman Awarded Multiship Contract

Northrop Grumman Corporation announced today that its Newport News sector has been awarded a multi-year, multiship contract by the U.S. Navy for nonpropulsion work on Nimitz-class aircraft carriers in San Diego through 2007.
