Contship Reports Improved Schedule

CP Ships to Acquire Nordana Line

CP Ships, one of the world's top ten container shipping companies, has reached agreement with Dannebrog of Denmark to acquire Caribbean/Latin American market specialist Nordana Line. The acquisition includes Nordana's business and services and its 10,000 teu container fleet. roll-on/roll-off ships owned by Dannebrog and the sub-charter of three chartered-in ships. commented Chief Executive Officer Ray Miles. Nordana operates three services with a total annual volume of about 50,000 teu. and the Mediterranean. A third service operates between the US/Central America and North Coast South America in co-operation already with the CP Ships brands, Lykes Lines and TMM Lines. CP Ships first entered Latin American markets with its 1997 acquisition of Contship Containerlines. Latin America.

CP Ships Makes Appointments

CP Ships has named Andrea Bolch as Vice President of its Europe-Asia Business Unit based in Ipswich, United Kingdom. US East Coast-India; South East Asia / India / Arabian Gulf. for Australasia. Bolch was previously Senior Vice President, ANZDL. Since joining the company as Commercial Director in 1992, she has held a number of senior management posts. Within the Ipswich-based Business Unit, Peter Hill continues as Vice President for the Australasia Business Unit having line management responsibility for the multiple services operated under the Contship Containerlines and ANZDL brands in the Australasian markets. These include: Europe-Australasia; Ocean Star Round-the-World; US West Coast-Australasia; Trans-Tasman and Australasia/Asia.

CP Ships Continues New Ship Spending Spree

CP Ships has taken the next step in its major fleet re-building program by signing a contract with China Shipbuilding Corporation of Taiwan for the construction of five geared 3,200 TEU containerships. They are designed to be employed in CP Ships' South American services. Delivery of the newbuildings will take place between mid-2002 and early 2003. The ships will measure 243 m long by 32.2 m wide, and will be equipped with 400 reefer plugs and operate at a service speed of 22.5 knots. Several containerships built by China Shipbuilding Corp already serve in the CP Ships fleet. CP Ships, FastShip Announce Agreement

CP Ships has signed an agreement with FastShip to assume commercial and marketing management for FastShip's TransAtlantic services. London-based CP Ships is the TransAtlantic's largest container service operator with twelve separate loops, and the seventh largest world-wide. FastShip, headquartered in Philadelphia, is creating a high-speed Transatlantic transport network. allow for pooling opportunities between FastShip and CP Ships. CP Ships is also taking a small equity position in FastShip. "We see FastShip as a complement to our existing range of TransAtlantic services. CP Ships Announces Deployment of Newbuilds

Contship Aurora Enters Service

CP Ships Takes Delivery Of Contship Aurora

CP Ships Limited has taken delivery of the 4100 teu Contship Aurora. It is the second in a series of new containerships being built under the company's $800 million ship replacement program and the first of three specially designed to carry a high proportion of refrigerated containers. Built by Daewoo in South Korea, Contship Aurora is destined for the Europe-Australasia trade lane where Contship Containerlines, one of CP Ships' seven brands, is upgrading its services with faster transit times, improved frequency and increased ability to serve customers' needs for greater refrigerated capacity. CP Ships is more than halfway through its overall ship replacement program, which remains on schedule.

Eagle is Landing for Contship Containerlines

Contship Containerlines will celebrate the 20th anniversary of its Eagle service between Europe and Australasia, by retiring the "Eagle" service brand name and strengthening the operation by incorporating it into the impending reconfiguration of its services in this trade. Contship Containerlines' Eagle service first started in May 1982 with a direct link between Mediterranean ports and Australia. In 1983, the service was expanded to include direct calls in the UK and Northern Europe. vessels were introduced and the rotation was expanded to include ports in the Far East. By 1991, seven new vessels of 1600 teu capacity replaced the previous tonnage and Noumea was introduced into the schedule.

Green GL Passports For Boxship Trio

Marking a departure from the company's highly effective chartering strategy of the past 30 years, three self-owned newbuilds are being phased into Contship Containerlines' core Australasian trades during the 2002 second-half. The 4,115-teu Contship Aurora class is technically distinguished by its considerable scope for perishable cargo, in that 1,300 plugs have been incorporated for integral type refrigerated containers. The trio ordered from Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering is replacing tonnage deployed on Contship's Eagle service between Europe, Australia and New Zealand, operated in partnership with P&O Nedlloyd's eastabout and Mediterranean strings, and will ultimately contribute to a new, weekly eastabout, round-the-world schedule.

Carriers Confirm Plans

Six container shipping lines in the Europe-Australasia-North America trade have finalized plans to introduce a new and improved liner service system for their existing operations on the world's longest trade-route. The new system will see five existing services replaced by two fixed-day weekly contra-rotating round-the-world operations. Marfret and P&ONedlloyd. All six carriers will continue to compete with each other and market their services independently. Deploying ten newbuildings of 4,100 teu, one service will sail from Europe via the Suez Canal to Australia and New Zealand, returning via the Panama Canal and the US East Coast to Northern Europe. guaranteed entry point into established markets.

Top Lines Resign From EPIC

Indian sub-continent - have given notice to the other consortium members. three will resign from membership of EPIC from July 2003. Contship Containerlines Wins Third Party Endorsement

Contship Containerlines services between Australia and Europe - currently being upgraded into two contra-rotating loops - now enjoy third party endorsement at both ends of the trade. Zealand has picked up awards for best transit times and schedule reliability from two independent authorities on the subject. In Australia recently, at the Lloyd's List Daily Commercial News Shipping Awards, Contship Containerlines scooped first place for schedule integrity in the trade from Australia to Europe, as well as from Australia to South Asia. reliability and transit times to the Australian base ports of Fremantle, Melbourne and Sydney. Contship Takes Delivery of Australis

Contship Aurora

Owner Contship Containerlines Ltd. Builder Daewoo Shipbuilding and Heavy Machinery Co. Ltd. Constructed under U.K flag, Contship Aurora was ordered by CP Ships and delivered by Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co., Ltd. Okpo Shipyard in September 2002. The vessel has been designed and built under the survey of Germanischer Lloyd — the first ship to qualify for Germanischer Lloyd's new "Green Passport" class character. This vessel has fully welded flush deck with forecastle, a raked stem with bulbous bow, a transom stern with open type stern frame, a semi-balanced rudder, a fixed pitch propeller and a bow thruster of controllable pitch propeller. Passageway from engine room to No.2 cargo hold space is arranged below the upper deck at both sides.

Contship Containerlines is offering passenger voyages directly to the public. The voyages are available on the Contship Aurora, Contship Australis and Contship Borealis - that Contship has recently introduced the eastbound routing of its contra-rotating services in the Europe-Australasia trade. The three new vessels are the first to be owned by Contship. the world's largest reefer contsinerships. calls on the US eastern seaboard. CP Ships Announces Management Appointments

Jeremy Masters has been appointed as the vice president for the CP Ships Limited business unit. He will report to Chief Operating Officer Frank Halliwell, and will be based in the United Kingdom. Masters joined Canada Maritime in 1984 and for the past years has been CP Ships Vice President responsible for the Asia Service Unit in Hong Kong, which provides sales, marketing and administrative support for CP Ships services in Asia. He will take over from David Halliday, who for personal reasons will in due course leave the company after a long and distinguished career of over 22 years with both Contship Containerlines and, since 1997, CP Ships. Stuart Rattray will replace Jeremy Masters as Vice President Asia Service Unit in Hong Kong.

Canadian Pacific to Acquire TMM's Shareholding in Americana Ships

Canadian Pacific Limited has agreed to acquire the outstanding 50% of the Americana Ships joint venture from its partner, Transportacion Maritima Mexicana SA de CV of Mexico. CP Ships and TMM formed Americana Ships in January 1999 as an equal partnership. TMM has now decided to narrow its strategic focus to concentrate on its other activities. Completion of the transaction, which is subject to regulatory approval, is expected early in the new year. It will confer full ownership of the container shipping services operated under the Lykes Lines, TMM Lines and TMG brands to Canadian Pacific's container shipping subsidiary, CP Ships. The transaction also includes the 27,000 teu container fleet owned by TMM and used by Americana Ships.

APS Management Restructured

Associated British Ports Holdings Plc is reorganizing top management at its American Port Services subsidiary, including appointing Douglas Tipton as head of the Seaport container terminal division. Tipton has been president and chief executive officer of U.S. shipping firm Contship Containerlines Inc for the past three years. He has extensive experience of the container industry, having also worked at Mitsui OSK, Maersk and Sea-Land. Seaport will become one business unit under his leadership, with all U.S. terminals reporting to him. Ozzie Moore will continue to head the U.S. aviation services division Amport. Moore and Tipton will report directly to ABP's chief executive Bo Lerenius. As a result, Tim Chadwick, chief executive of APS, will be leaving the group.
