BIMCO Approves Revised SYNACOMEX Grain Carter

BIMCO’s Documentary Committee has approved a revised version of the Continent Grain Charter Party, SYNACOMEX, to reflect changes in the geopolitical landscape following events including the COVID-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine. The revised charter party now includes BIMCO’s anti-corruption clause and updated versions of the war risks and sanctions clauses.The charter party is developed by joint copyright holders SYNACOMEX and Armateurs de France, the French Union for Grains and Seeds Trade and the French Shipowners’ Association.

British Ports Association to Push Coastal Shipping

The British Ports Association (BPA) will be holding a short targeted seminar on Thursday 29 November to discuss coastal shipping in the UK with ports and operators. Shoreham Port supporting Women in Maritime

Shoreham Port is part of a high-level Taskforce, established by Maritime UK, to work collaboratively with other businesses in the industry to promote women in the maritime sector. The first meeting took place on 21st February in London and was very well attended. The Taskforce aims to identify practical steps to increase the number of women in the industry and is committed to addressing fairness, equality and inclusion within the sector. The UK Maritime Minister Nusrat Ghani MP joined the first meeting, demonstrating government support for the initiative. Crowley Maritime Corporation announced that Ketra Anderson has been named vice president of safety, security, quality and environmental stewardship (SSQE), replacing Paul Manzi, who has been named vice president of the company’s new Alaska Tankers group. Shoreham Port, Possability People Team Up to deliver Recruit Ability Event

This week, Shoreham Port welcomed a group of people from Possability People to the Port as part of a new project called Recruit Ability. Possability People are a Brighton based charity set up in 1981 to support and involve disabled people to have equal rights, and a voice and control over issues affecting their lives. They provide services in Brighton, Hove and East and West Sussex. In 2016 Possability People launched a new project called ‘Recruit Ability’ working with the Brighton Chamber of Commerce. Recruit Ability helps disabled people fulfil their potential and enhance the businesses that employ them. The project is funded by the Department for Work and Pensions.

Mundra Port Handles Largest Bulk Carrier

Adani Ports & SEZ Ltd, India’s largest port developer and part of Adani Group, today said its Mundra Port successfully berthed the largest bulk carrier to call at any port on the west coast of India, thereby making history in the Indian maritime sector. MV Orange Phoenix, a Panama registered vessel, with overall length of 299 meters and draft 16.7 meters, was berthed at Mundra Port’s West Basin Coal Terminal on 2nd December 2014 by the port’s marine team. The vessel has a Dead Weight Tonnage (DWT) of 207,529 tons and has brought 179,741 MT of Indonesian coal. Mundra port is designed to handle bulk vessels upto 250,000 DWT. These vessels have not been built as yet but are on the drawing board.

Caterpillar's Vice President, Randy Krotowski, Quits

Caterpillar Inc. (NYSE: CAT) announced that Randy Krotowski, vice president with responsibility for the Global Information Services (GIS) Division and the company’s Chief Information Officer (CIO), has elected to resign from the company to pursue other opportunities. Krotowski’s departure will be effective today. “Randy has more than 25 years of experience in the information technology field, and we wish him well as he pursues future endeavors,” said Brad Halverson, Caterpillar group president with responsibility for the Corporate Services Division. Caterpillar will immediately begin a global search to find a new GIS vice president and chief information officer.

AAPA Cruise Seminar to Explore, Assess Industry Issues

The American Association of Port Authorities’ (AAPA) 2013 Cruise Seminar in San Francisco, April 24-26, will kick off with a candid look inside the cruise industry from the perspective of four key cruise line executives and end with a tour of the Port of San Francisco to see the impact of the America’s Cup on port operations. Mississippi River Deep Water Dock Project Planned

Americas Styrenics (AmSty) announce a project to construct a deep water dock at its styrene production facility at St. James, Louisiana, located on the Mississippi River. Detailed engineering is underway for the project with local permitting expected by mid-2014. AmSty’s deep water dock facility at the St. James Plant is expected to be operational in late 2015. “AmSty’s St. James Plant is a world-scale styrene facility and also one of the largest consumers of hydrocarbon feedstocks on the Lower Mississippi River,” said Randy Pogue, Vice President - Styrene, Feedstocks and Corporate Services.
