Blakeley BoatWorks Building New Tug for Crescent Towing

Mobile, Ala. shipbuilder Blakeley BoatWorks is building a new EPA Tier 4 ship assist tugboat for fellow The Cooper Group company Crescent Towing. Upon completion, Crescent will operate the new tug in New Orleans as part of its Mississippi River ship assist fleet.“The addition of this new 6,000-hp z-drive in support of our Mississippi River operations highlights our continued commitment to providing our customers with the most powerful and technologically advanced equipment in the industry,” said Scott H.

Crowley Integrates Marine Interior Design Firm

Crowley announced it is integrating Seattle-based marine interior design company JE Russell Consulting, giving the company’s engineering services group the capability to complement vessels’ existing designs with interior designs, consulting and other service offerings.“Crowley’s addition of the JE Russell Consulting team provides our engineering services group with an important resource to offer comprehensive design services to our customers,” said Coulston Van Gundy, vice president, Crowley Engineering Services.

Crowley has appointed Charles "Charlie" Jors as chief naval architect for the company’s engineering services. He will lead Crowley’s vessel design and marine engineering teams.With nearly 20 years of naval architecture and marine engineering experience, Jors has served in previous leadership roles on complex projects, involving vessel design and development, construction, structural analysis, conversion and modification.Since joining Crowley in 2010, Jors has played an active role expanding the company’s engineering services capabilities for maritime partners and customers.
