Mid-Atlantic Maritime Academy Announces Management Changes

Mid-Atlantic Maritime Academy’s President and CO-CEO, Capt. Ed Nanartowich, announced a reorganization of the upper management tier of the school.The move supports both deck and engine course development efforts, special project, and the schools curriculum expansion projects. Chief Engineer Doug Puritis, was appointed Vice President of Academics and spearheads all course development projects as well as servicing as an advanced course instructor and course developer.Chief Engineer Ray Blanchet serves as the Vice President of Operations and has expanded the curriculum base. MEBA Announces Passing of Thomas Cannon

Former Calhoon M.E.B.A. Engineering School Instructor passes away at the age of 81. It is with great sadness that the Marine Engineers’ Beneficial Association (M.E.B.A.) announces the death of long-time friend and colleague, Thomas “Tom” Francis Cannon. Cannon passed away peacefully on January 7, 2012 in Salerno, Italy. He was 81 years old. “Tom was an engineer’s engineer. He excelled at everything he put his mind to, and inspired those around him to achieve their best,” said M.E.B.A. President Mike Jewell. “He was an excellent engineer, a motivating teacher, and a personal friend.

Kongsberg Maritime offers Generic ECDIS Training

Training division expands course offering as new requirements approach. Kongsberg Maritime is gearing up to offer a new generic ECDIS training course in order to meet the high demand for navigation officer training prior to the new STCW convention requirements on 1st January 2012.
