Kalmar, part of Cargotec, is to deliver two rubber-tyred gantry cranes (RTGs) to EUROGATE, Europe's leading shipping line-independent container terminal operator, for use in their Tanger S.A. terminal in Morocco.The order was booked in Cargotec's 2018 Q3 order intake, with delivery scheduled to take place during Q3 of 2019. The EUROGATE Tanger container terminal is conveniently located on the Strait of Gibraltar in Morocco, making it the ideal transhipment hub for the western Mediterranean, Africa and South America.With a quay length of 812 m, a terminal area of 400,000 m² and a water depth of up to 18 m, the facility is well-equipped to handle the new generation of container ships. All RTGs currently operating at the terminal have been supplied by Kalmar.

Kalmar has won an order for seven rubber-tyred gantry (RTG) cranes following a call for tender launched by the Algerian port procurement company Groupement D'Interêt Commun Des Entreprises Portuaires (GICEP). The value of the order is approximately EUR 10 million. The order has been booked into Cargotec's 2016 fourth quarter order intake and the equipment will be delivered to the customer during the third quarter of 2017. The Port of Oran Container Terminal ("Port of Oran") is currently embarking on an ambitious expansion project and the Kalmar E-One2 RTGs will provide the terminal with reliable performance, reduced fuel consumption, and an industry-leading maintenance interval of 1,000 hours.

At the first day of the International WorkBoat Show in New Orleans, La., Brunswick Commercial & Government Products (BCGP) introduced an 8.5-meter aluminum RHIB. A first of its kind for the Company, the 850 Aluminum Impact RHIB is the introductory model from a line-up that features five variants ranging in size from 7.5-meters to 12-meters. Designed for the commercial and government marketplace, BCGP will market the new line-up to domestic law enforcement agencies as well as militaries worldwide. "We are happy to introduce the Aluminum Impact RHIB line here at the International WorkBoat show," said Jeremy Davis, BCGP director of sales.

Ocean carriers bucked a five-month downwards trend by improving container service reliability in March, according to Carrier Performance Insight, the online schedule reliability tool provided by Drewry Supply Chain Advisors. The average on-time performance in March gained 5.5 points against February to reach 68% with an average deviation from the expected arrival at port of 1.0 days. The improvement seen in March was expected as services returned to closer to operational normality after Chinese New Year in February when carriers tinkered with ever more void sailings to mitigate weaker demand. Indeed, eight of the 10 trades covered reported monthly improvements in reliability with the biggest seen in the Asia-Oceania and Europe-Middle East trades…

Brazil’s Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPI) has recommended the deepening of investigations into 10 companies - including Keppel, SembCorp Marine and Kawasaki Heavy-  involved in the alleged bribery transactions with Petrobras and Sete Brasil. The investigations follow allegations by a former engineering manager at Petrobras, which is caught up in a massive procurement corruption scandal that has contributed to efforts to impeach Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff. Singapore rig builder Keppel Corp. Ltd said in a statement its unit Keppel FELS Brasil intends to extend its full cooperation to the authorities if approached. Keppel reiterates its zero-tolerance stance against any form of illegal activity…

Darwin Port Corporation has advised that, effective 1 July 2015, port charges will be indexed by 0.8% applying the Darwin All Groups CPI for the March 2015 quarter. With the low percentage change of less than 1% most standard port charges will see a very minimal increase and some tariffs were not indexed at all. - Introduction of infrastructure support contribution for visiting foreign navy berthing at Fort Hill Wharf or East Arm Wharf at the rate of 25 cents per GRT per day. The new Port Changes have been introduced to better reflect the utilisation of port resources and recovery of operational costs. Transport consultant Drewry’s Carrier Performance Insight (CPI) for April records 67.6%, up by 4.1 percentage improvement on the previous month in the aggregate reliability of ships on the main Asia-Europe, transpacific and transatlantic trades. The previous best since Drewry’s new data series started in May 2014 was achieved in October last year (64.3%) after which the industry struggled to cope with heavy port congestion on the US West Coast and the implementation of new alliance partnerships and services. Drewry attributes the upswing to a return to “normal” operations at US west coast ports after the agreement of a new labour contract, and the bedding in of the new and upgraded vessel sharing alliances.

Maersk Line and Hamburg Sud are ranked as the two most reliable container shipping carriers, according to performance rankings published in the new online version of the Carrier Performance Insight (http://cpi.drewry.co.uk) published by shipping consultancy Drewry. Maersk Line and Hamburg Süd were by far the most reliable carriers in the three months to October 2014 with overall on-time performances of 80.4% and 78.5% respectively. The next best performing carrier was Cosco at 69.9%…

Maurel & Prom announced that, along with Mnazi Bay license partners Wentworth and Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC), it has signed a gas sales and purchase agreement with TPDC for the long-term sale of natural gas from the Mnazi Bay and Msimbati fields in southern Tanzania to the government owned and operated Mtwara to Dar es Salaam pipeline and Madimba central processing facility currently under construction and scheduled for completion and commissioning in Q1 2015. Pursuant to the Mnazi Bay GSA, the Mnazi Bay Partners are contracted to supply to the Pipeline Project up to a maximum 80 mcf/day of natural gas during the first eight months with the option to increase over time to a maximum 130 mmcf/day of natural gas for up to 17-year supply period.

CPI Marine, a U.S. supplier of inflatable and foam collars for rigid-hull inflatable boats (RIBs), is introducing its new range of products for the international marine market at Seawork International 2013 in Southampton, U.K., June 25-27. The St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation (SLSMC) is pleased to announce that its unionized employees, members of the Canadian Auto Workers (CAW) union, ratified a three-year labour agreement covering a period extending from April 1, 2011 to March 31, 2014. The agreement provides for annual wage increases of 2%. However, in the last two years of the contract, the agreement provides for either the negotiated 2% or 50% of the CPI rate, whichever is greater. Gladding-Hearn Shipbuilding, Duclos Corporation, has delivered a new rigid-bottom, soft-sided pilot boat to the Galveston Texas-City Pilots. The jet-driven, all-aluminum Galveston Bay measures 43 ft. (13m) overall. It has a 14 ft. beam, including the hybrid foam/air collar, and a shoal 2.5 ft. draft. Designed by C. Raymond Hunt Associates, the deep-V hull features a steep 22-degree dead-rise at the transom that increases to a very fine entry forward. A flat chine and multiple spray-rails provide an efficient running surface and deflect spray away from the collar to produce a dryer ride…

On February 5, the US Coast Guard promulgated its long-awaited proposal for updating the Certificate of Financial Responsibility (COFR) program. Owners and operators of vessels over 300 gross tons operating in United States waters have been required to provide evidence of financial responsibility to respond to oil spills from their vessels since 1972. The program was significantly broadened with enactment of the Oil Pollution Act of 1990 (OPA 90), which increased the categories of damages for which oil spill liability could attach.
