Macquarie to Divest U.S. Port Terminal Operator Ceres

Australian financial conglomerate Macquarie Group said on Thursday it would divest its U.S.-based port terminal operator Ceres Terminals, with a source familiar with the matter placing the deal value north of $900 million.Macquarie did not disclose any further details on the deal, and declined to comment on Reuters' request seeking confirmation of the sale value.The Wall Street Journal in May reported that Macquarie was looking for about $1 billion from the sale, citing sources familiar with the matter.The deal value could be at the lower end of what the Wall Street Journal reported…

Maersk’s SeaLand Sets Leadership Team

SeaLand, the newly founded intra-Americas regional carrier of the Maersk Group, announced today the appointment of its executive team which the company sais will fulfill its mission of delivering greater service stability and commitment, as well as a higher level of customer-focused service tailored to the customer’s needs. The new appointees are Alfredo Di Palma, Maria Batista, Shane Sawyer, Thiago Covre and Timothy Child, who will all be on board within the next two-three months, joining SeaLand CEO Craig Mygatt. Alfredo Di Palma will join SeaLand as Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) in charge of all commercial efforts for the company.

Maersk's New Americas Company, SeaLand, to Commence in 2015

Ocean transportation company Maersk Line, a unit of the A.P. Moller-Maersk Group, announced today the formation of a regional, containerized shipping company – SeaLand - dedicated to the intra-Americas market. The new affiliate will have a structure similar to Maersk's other regional carriers such as intra-Asia carrier MCC Transport and intra-Europe carrier Seago Line. SeaLand will feature knowledgeable, local sales and support personnel positioned in North, Central and South America, as well as the Caribbean, to meet the unique needs of customers throughout the region.
