Huisman to Deliver 3,000mt+ Crane for Havfram Wind's New WTIV

Dutch crane maker Huisman has won a contract from offshore wind installation contractor Havfram Wind for the delivery of a 3,000mt+ Leg Encircling Crane for its second NG-20000X Wind Turbine Installation Vessel. Huisman's 3,000mt+ Crane for Havfram's Offshore Wind Vessel

Dutch offshore crane maker Huisman has won a contract to supply a 3,000mt+ Leg Encircling Crane (LEC) to be installed on Havfram's first Wind Turbine Installation Vessel. This is Huisman's thirteenth LEC order since the start of 2021, and and second this week, after announcing a similar deal to supply a crane for Cadeler's offshore wind vessel.For Havfram, Huiisman will supply the full electric LEC which will be equiopped with a "unique" 155 meter boom. The crane will have a lifting height of around 180 meters above deck.

DEME's 'Revolutionary' Offshore Installation Vessel Orion Set for Debut

Belgian offshore installation company DEME said Friday that its 'revolutionary' new offshore installation vessel 'Orion' this week docked for the first time at the company's base near Vlissingen, in the Netherlands.The  DP3 installation vessel Orion is equipped with a 5,000-tonne crane, built to handle the next generation of offshore wind farm components."Orion’ is now being prepared for its first project… and for the official naming ceremony taking place soon!," DEME said in a social media post.Worth noting, the Orion's delivery is a belated one. Namely, in May 2020, an incident happened at crane maker Liebherr's yard in Rostock, Germany, when the Orion's giant crane collapsed onto the vessel during crane load tests, injuring several people.

BMS Orders Huisman Mega-crane for Offshore Wind Turbines

Denmark-based BMS Heavy Cranes has ordered a 3,000mt Ringer Crane, with an option for a second unit from the Dutch crane maker Huisman.According to Huisman, the crane setup has been optimized for operations in the wind industry. With the capability to lift components of 1,200mt at heights of up to 225m, and heavy structures of 3000mt at a reduced height, the crane will ready BMS for installation of the next generation of wind turbines on and offshore and on floating foundations, Huisman said."The crane is also well suited to operations in other industries.

Eneti Orders Second Wind Turbine Installation Vessel for $326M

Red Rock Cranes for Dogger Bank-bound SOVs

Norway-based crane maker Red Rock has won a contract with shipbuilder Vard to deliver equipment for three service offshore vessels (SOVs) Vard is building in Vietnam for the UK-based shipowner North Star Renewables. The vessels will be operating on the first two phases of what will be the world's largest offshore wind farm - the Dogger Bank wind farm in the UK North Sea.Red Rock will deliver 2 x 2T 3D Motion Compensated cranes, 1 x 5T 3D Motion Compensated crane, 3 x 2T Boat landing cranes, and 3 x 1T Shipboard crane.

SAL Fly High With New Extension

SAL Heavy Lift, a carrier specialized in sea transport of heavy lift and project cargo, has installed a Fly-Jib crane boom extension on MV Lone which will be used on an offshore wind project in Taiwan.The Hamburg-based company said in a press release that the Fly-Jib extends the crane hook to the height of some 70 metres and can be installed to each of the main crane booms of SAL’s Type 183 vessels.With the much greater lifting height and further outreach, SAL’s new Fly-Jib can meet clients demands when units become ever bigger and where one faces requirements to lift long components vertically – e.g. with offshore wind equipment. In a show of prototypes, a pod of unmanned sailboats from around the world competes to cross “The Atlantic” test tank in Horten, Norway. Cross the real ocean, and the Sail Bots race similarly challenges scholarly robotic-vessel designers to North America for a bit of station-keeping, collision-avoidance and “cargo moves”. For all, the future seems bright — the first commercial runs of unmanned vessels are underway or scheduled worldwide. These earliest movers have the support of governments, Google and grateful clients.

Konecranes-Terex Deal to Proceed as Zoomlion Drops Rival Bid

China's Zoomlion Heavy Industry Science and Technology Co Ltd has abandoned its $3.4 billion bid for U.S. crane maker Terex Corp , clearing the way for a smaller deal between Terex and Finland's Konecranes. The decision comes after six months of merger talks between Terex and Zoomlion, and marks the latest setback to corporate China's ambitions to acquire U.S. assets. In March, Anbang Insurance Group Co unexpectedly withdrew its $14 billion offer to buy Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc.

Ireland-based Liebherr to supply a ship-to-shore container crane to handle 'Post-Panamax' ships at DP World Melbourne. The crane has a waterside outreach of 50m a span of 25.3m and a landside backreach of 20m. The S.W.L. of the crane is 65 tonnes under twin lift spreader with a lift height of 38m under spreader. No Lift for Konecranes as Q1 2014 Profit Slips

Finnish crane maker Konecranes on Thursday reported a 32-percent fall in its core quarterly operating profit amid slow demand and tight competition. January-March 2014 operating profit, excluding one-off items, fell to 15.6 million euros ($22 million) from 23.1 million a year earlier and well below the average analyst expectation of 22 million in a Reuters poll. The company, whose cranes are used in factories, shipyards and ports, said that this year's sales are expected to be approximately at the same level as in 2013. "We expect the 2014 operating profit, excluding restructuring costs, to be approximately at the same level or to improve slightly from 2013," it added.
