A crew, shipwrecked by a cyclone in the Indian Ocean, has thanked Sailors’ Society's Crisis Response Network for helping them through their trauma.The vessel, which appeared to have engine failure just as Cyclone Batsirai hit, was shipwrecked - dashed onto the rocky coast of Réunion Island.Speaking of their immense fear, one of the crew said, “It was so bad and so dark, we really thought we were going to die.”The captain, who along with his crew has been receiving counselling from the Society’s Crisis Response Network team…

Custom Line Launches 14 Vessels in 2019

Italian yacht manufacturer Ferretti Group said that its brand Custom Line has achieved its goal of 14 launches in 2019 and of the sale of two Navetta 33s in December alone.Three new launches were held during the last three months at the Ferretti Group’s Superyacht Yard in Ancona: Custom Line 106’ was launched on 28 October, a Navetta 42 on 3 December, and a Navetta 28 took to the water on 12 December.These latest débuts show once again the tremendous commercial success of 28-42 metre Custom Line vessels, the leaders in comfort, technology and design. Sailors' Society Welcomes Greek Ambassador

HMM, FESCO Expand Cooperation

South Korean major Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM) unveiled its plans to expand cooperation with Russian container line FESCO on their China Russia North Service (CRN).HMM has been jointly operating a China-Korea-Russia weekly service, under the name of ‘CRN’ with FESCO and CMA CGM.With the expansion of cooperation, the current CRN will be reorganized and two of new direct services connecting Korea and Russia, named 'KR2 (Korea Russia Service 2)' and 'KRS (Korea Russia Service)', will be introduced in the service network of HMM.HMM deploys one vessel (1,000 TEU) on the KR2 which directly connects Busan and Vostochny, while FESCO places one vessel (1,200 TEU) on the KRS, the direct service between Busan and Vladivostok.The commencement date of respective service is on May 11 for KR2 and on Ma

CRN Ready to Launch 79-metre Yacht

Italian shipyard CRN is ready to launch the M/Y 135, the new 79-metre fully custom steel and aluminium megayacht.The pre-launch positioning process has revealed the sleek shape of this imposing yacht, elegantly delineated by the smooth lines of her hull, said a press release.M/Y 135 was designed by the CRN Technical Office in partnership with the Zuccon International Project design studio, which looked after the exterior, and with the Laura Sessa architecture studio, which developed the interiors.With the aid of motorised hydraulic lift trucks, the megayacht was positioned on the slipway – the inclined surface where the pre-launch operations will be completed over the next few weeks.Handling a yacht weighing over 1,400 tons was a complex and spectacular operation, made possible by the tota

HMM New Service in North China, Korea and Russia

Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM) announces the launch of a new North China-Korea-Russia weekly service, under the name of ‘CRN (China Russia North Service)’. The CRN service covers the ports of ‘Qingdao-Shanhai-Ningbo-Pusan-Vladivostok-Vostochny-Pusan-Qingdao’ and will begin on March 31. HMM will deploy one container ship on the route, and FESCO will place two vessels on the route. HMM has been offering CRS (China Russia South Service) services on South China-Middle China-Korea-Russia in cooperation with FESCO and CMA-CGM. From March 30, the CRS service will change its port ration to ‘Hong Kong-Chiwan-Xiamen-Ningbo-Shanghai-Vladivostok-Vostochny-Hong Kong’ to provide a direct service from China to Vladivostok.

India's GSL Delivers Patrol Vessel to Mauritius

Indo-Mauritian maritime defence Co-operation got another fillip with the delivery of first Fast Patrol Vessel, MCGS VICTORY, designed and built in-house by Goa Shipyard Limited(GSL) for Mauritius Coast Guard, on 26th September 2016 at GSL. The vessel is primarily designed for Coastal Patrolling, Anti-piracy, Anti-smuggling, Anti-drug Surveillance, Anti-poaching Operations, and Search and Rescue Operations. The vessel is 50 meter long, fitted with 30 mm CRN-91 Gun, 12.7 mm HMGs & 7.62 mm MMGs besides state-of-the-art Navigation and Communication equipment and is capable of achieving a high speed of 35 knots. Significantly, trials were undertaken in peak monsoon months and the vessel achieved all design parameters. The ship was ceremonially handed over by RAdm.

HMM, FESCO and CMA CGM Launch Joint CRS Loop

Prior to the launch, HMM has been jointly operating two services ‘KRS (Korea Russia Service)’ and ‘KR2 (Korea Russia Service 2)’ with FESCO. HMM merged the two joint loops and broaden its service coverage to the South China and the Middle China, and changed the service name to CRS, which was also joined by a French carrier CMA CGM. The new weekly service turns in three weeks with three ships of 2,700-4,600 teus those were provided by each company. The service calls at Hong Kong, Chiwan, Xiamen, Ningbo, Shanghai, Busan, Vladivostok (Commercial Port), Vostochny, Busan, Hong Kong. While cooperating with FESCO and CMA CGM for CRS, HMM has also been joining hands with FESCO for ‘CRN (China Russia North Service),’ which connects China and Russia with two 1,700 teu container ships.

Italian Yacht Maker Ferretti Creates Defence and Security Unit

Italian luxury yacht builder Ferretti, owned by Chinese industrial conglomerate Weichai Group, has created a new unit to build boats for the patrol and defence of international waters, lands and coastlines, it said on Wednesday. Ferretti Security and Defence (FSD) will design, develop and manufacture defence vessels, target the Middle East and Asian markets, collaborate with other bigger defence companies, and its parent will invest 5 million euros ($5.48 million) in the division this year, Ferretti Chief Executive Alberto Galassi said at the unit's launch in Rome in comments confirmed by a spokesman. The move comes as countries around the world are beefing up defence budgets to respond to heightened security concerns.

Chinese Customer Signs Up for CRN Megayacht

CRN say they have signed  a Letter of Intent (LOI) with a Chinese client for a 68 metres superyacht, the biggest vessel ever sold by CRN and Ferretti Group in China. The historic Italian shipyard of Ancona, part of Ferretti Group, which specialises in the construction and sale of fully-customised displacement megayachts, ranging from 40 to 90 metres in length, will build the new vessel. The 68 metres in length and 12.50 metres in breadth megayacht, to be built of steel and aluminium, is designed by Zuccon International.

New Explosion-proof Pressure Transmitter from AST

American Sensor Technologies, Inc. (AST) released the AST46DS Explosion-Proof Pressure Transducer with Display with pressures from 1 to 20,000 PSI available. The AST46DS is a transducer with zero function capability, voltage or 4-20mA output signals, and all 316L stainless steel sensor materials. The voltage output signal is ideal for oil and gas well site applications, the manufacturer said. With many SCADA / RTU sites powered by solar panels in remote locations, a pressure transducer with low current consumption is ideal to extend life.
