Crowley, Humboldt Bay to Develop and Operate California Wind Terminal

Crowley signed an agreement on Thursday with the Port of Humboldt Bay to exclusively negotiate to be the developer and operator of a terminal to serve as California’s first hub for offshore wind energy installations. Crowley Implements Tideworks’ TOS at Port Everglades

Crowley Breaks Ground on San Juan Terminal

Crowley Puerto Rico Services, Inc. has broken ground on a $48.5-million construction project for a new pier at its Isla Grande Terminal in San Juan, Puerto Rico, the company announced. The project includes the development of a new 900-foot-long, 114-foot-wide concrete pier and all associated dredging needed to accommodate Crowley’s two new liquefied natural gas (LNG)-powered, Commitment Class ships, which are scheduled for delivery in 2017. Crowley Puerto Rico Services, Inc. announced today that it has executed a $48.5 million construction contract for a new pier at its Isla Grande Terminal in San Juan, Puerto Rico, further solidifying its commitment to the region, the company announced today. Crowley Ships Massive Electrical Equipment

Crowley Maritime Corporation’s liner services group recently transported two massive electrical equipment enclosures with a combined weight of 196,000 pounds to San Juan, Puerto Rico. Crowley said the feat required shifting the company’s 580-foot triple-deck barge La Princesa beside its normal berth at the Crowley terminal in Jacksonville, Fla., so that the pieces could be rolled onto the lower deck of the barge free of obstruction from the loading ramp. “This orchestrated shifting of the barge and specialized loading operation is not commonly done,” said John Hourihan, senior vice president and general manager, Puerto Rico services.

Barge Sideswipes Terminal Pier near Jacksonville

The Coast Guard responded after a 700-foot barge broke free from its mooring near downtown Jacksonville, Fla., at approximately 8 p.m., Wednesday. Watchstanders in the Coast Guard Sector Jacksonville command center received notification from Crowley Marine that the 700-foot barge Miami broke loose from its mooring and sideswiped the Crowley Terminal pier and the tugboats Ensign and Patriarch. According to Crowley, the barge broke free of its mooring as a result of severe weather in the area.

Severe Weather Sends Jacksonville Barge Flying

Watchstanders in the Coast Guard Sector Jacksonville, Fla. command center received notification from Crowley Marine that the 700-foot barge 'Miami' broke loose from its mooring and sideswiped the Crowley Terminal pier and the tugboats 'Ensign' and 'Patriarch'. According to Crowley, the barge broke free of its mooring as a result of severe weather in the area. A Coast Guard investigator and the Sector Jacksonville chief of inspections arrived at the scene. No injuries or pollution was reported. The pier and tugs were reported to have sustained minimal damage following the accident.

Crowley Expands at Port Everglades

Crowley Liner Services is expanding at Port Everglades with a new 10-year terminal lease that calls for additional acreage and increased container guarantees. Crowley, 100% Compliance with TWIC

Continuing announced that all of its employees, who needed Transportation Workers Identification Credentials (TWIC) by the final mid-April deadline, have them. More than 600 Crowley terminal and port workers in Port Everglades, Pennsauken, Jacksonville, San Juan and St. Thomas and more than 1,000 merchant seamen from Alaska to Puerto Rico obtained TWIC credentials during a series of rolling federal deadlines.
