Garibaldi Glass Supplies Big Cat Windows

This projects designer, Crowther Multi Hulls, specified all safety tempered windows aboard the Big Cat Express to be frameless. Due to their quality and experience, Garibaldi Glass Industries, Inc. was chosen to supply these windows. Utilizing a direct glaze technique, Garibaldi Glass applied a perimeter coat of black ceramic frit to the glass. This frit creates an ideal bonding surface and eliminates any UV penetration that may otherwise harm the polyurethane adhesive used to bond the windows to the vessel. Garibaldi's frameless windows eliminate leaks and vibration noise. Vessel operators will never be required to do any of the corrosion maintenance that is required with traditional framed windows.

Hawaiian CAT: Enviro Awareness In Comfort

Hawaiian maritime tradition traces its roots to the huge ocean going outrigger canoes that took sophisticated navigators island hopping around the expanse of the Pacific Ocean. Today fiberglass versions of these canoes are put through their paces by canoe racing clubs. Other reincarnations of the outrigger’s twin hulls are the many catamarans, both sail and power, that take thousands of tourists out into the island waters every day of the year. The Pacific Whale Foundation’s Ocean Voyager well represents this modern class of vessel.

Kvichak Marine Building Cummins-Powered Catamaran

"This project represents our commitment to the passenger vessel industry, including high speed catamarans," says Kvichak Marine's Art Parker. Well-known for their 30 to 40-ft. aluminum fishboats and oil response vessels, the Seattle-based boat builder is currently building a 64 x 28-ft. displacement hulled catamaran for Captain Andy's Sailing Adventures of Port Allen on the Island of Kauai, in Hawaii. The boat, to operate year round on the Na Pali Coast, will be rated for 100 passengers on scheduled snorkeling and whale watch day trips. In the evenings she will serve catered meals for up to 40 sit down diners. The main deck house is open to the aft with front and side windows providing shelter while the stern area is open. The top deck carries the pilot house and additional open seating.
