Viking Welding Delivers Fire/Rescue Boats

Fire Departments in South Carolina and Minnesota have recently accepted delivery of Response FR-28 and FR-31J boats built of welded aluminum by Viking Welding & Fabrication in Kensington, N.H. The boats were designed by Response Marine in Newburyport, Mass. The FR-28 specifications were developed by Mount Pleasant Fire Department in South Carolina to improve firefighting and rescue capability in the coastal areas surrounding Mount Pleasant, which include Charleston Harbor, Gray Bay and Hamlin Sound. Dometic Makes Key Changes in EMEA Territory

Dometic Group recently confirmed five key appointments in the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) territory following the restructuring of Dometic Group’s global business operations in early 2013. Dometic noted that the appointments have been made to strengthen the EMEA business moving into 2014 as the company is experiencing an increasing demand for its products and installations within the commercial and workboat sector. Paul Hickinbotham has been appointed Director EMEA - Sales and Administrations & Commercial Division.

Dometic Marine Secures Skipper HVAC Order

Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) specialist Dometic Marine will supply its Cruisair equipment aboard a 105ft Motoryacht Class which has been built by houseboat and custom yacht builder, Skipper Manufacturing LLC. As part of the new agreement Dometic will deliver custom-built chilled water equipment to provide the yacht with 480,000 BTU (British thermal unit) or 40 tons of capacity. “As a private charter vessel, the ‘Lady of the Lake’ will be used to entertain up to 150 guests from her home port at Riverside Resort in Lake Charles, Louisiana. The provision of reliable air conditioning aboard is essential to ensure the comfort of passengers and crew as well as satisfy owner expectations,” comments Bernie Clements, Purchasing Manager Skipper Manufacturing.

AER Distributes BSCO Fire Suppression

AER Supply Ltd. has been named the exclusive distributor for BSCO, Inc. Fire Suppression Systems for 13 states. BSCO manufactures and installs semi-custom systems that provide fire-protection solutions for small, enclosed areas, such as the engine room, to prevent fire from spreading throughout the boat. The company uses environmentally friendly agents and the USCG-approved suppression systems have been tested to meet the requirements of NFPA 2001 in a program jointly designed by Factory Mutual Testing and BSCO. The product line includes cylinders, actuators and nozzles. AER Supply is responsible for all sales, service and support of BSCO products throughout Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas and Utah.

Dometic Awarded Israel Navy Contract

Dometic Environmental Corporation has won orders to supply air conditioning systems for up to 10 new-generation Israel Navy Super Dvora III fast patrol and attack craft. The air conditioning systems include a six-ton Cruisair chiller and multiple air handling units with computerized thermostat controls in all living and operational spaces. Dometic also supplied Cruisair HVAC systems for the earlier Super Dvora I and II vessels. The Super Dvora III high-speed patrol boats are being built by Israel Aircraft Industries’ Ramta Division, which has contracts to build 10 vessels. The versatile Super Dvora III boats are designed for all-weather littoral/brown-water surveillance, search and rescue missions and policing duties, as well as increased blue-water naval operations.

Taylor Made Debuts New Series of Air Conditions

Taylor Made Environmental has announced a family of redesigned compact, lightweight, high-efficiency marine air conditioning systems. The new self-contained seawater-cooled units are being sold under the Cruisair and Marine Air Systems brand names. Available in 5,000, 7,000, 10,000, 12,000 and 16,000 BTU capacities, the systems have been re-engineered with new compressors and evaporator coils, resulting in smaller size, lower weight, reduced amperage draw and improved reliability. According to Frank Marciano, president of Taylor Made Environmental, the new-design packaging applies to Marine Air Systems patented Vector Compact and Cool Mate series products, and Cruisair StowAway Compact (SXF) and Zephyr models.
