Wärtsilä Lifecycle Agreement for Installation Vessel Green Jade

Wärtsilä reports it has signed a long-term Guaranteed Asset Performance agreement with CSBC-DEME Wind Engineering Co Ltd (CDWE), a joint venture between CSBC Corporation and DEME Offshore. The agreement covers CDWE’s new 216 meters-long installation vessel, the Green Jade. Marco Kanaar, CEO of CDWE, owner of the Taiwan-designed and -built offshore heavy lift DP3 installation vessel Green Jade says: "High utilization of our Green Jade is of utmost importance to our business which is why we have selected the Wärtsilä thrusters and engines for its reputation for excellent quality and reliability.

Tech File: Rolls-Royce Delivers 16-cylinder Version of mtu Series 8000 Engines

Rolls-Royce has delivered the first 16-cylinder engines of the mtu Series 8000, two 16V 8000 M71L engines built for the Taiwanese shipyard CSBC Corporation to power new patrol vessels for the Taiwanese Coast Guard. The two engines deliver 7,280 kW of power each and will accelerate the 1000-ton class vessels to up to 24 knots. A total of six vessels of this class will be built with mtu engines, and the engines will be delivered by the end of 2022. Rolls-Royce said it has also already sold an additional 20 engines of the new type to a second customer.

European Countries Helping Taiwan with Submarine Project

MacArtney LARS for Fifth Asia Pacific Research Vessel

MacArtney completed its order of a launch and recovery (LARS) system for Taiwan National University, the fifth Ocean Research Vessel (ORV) in the Asia Pacific region to date. MacArtney Asia Pacific provided the full launch and recovery system solution for the new vessel R/V New Ocean Researcher 1 (ORV 1), including slip rings, cables and docking heads. The 1,000 GT RV was completed on July 21, 2020.Behind ORV 1 is the CSBC Corporation, which built the ship for end-user Taiwan National University. CSBC, owning two shipyards, is the largest shipbuilding company in Taiwan.

Yang Ming Orders Ten 2,800 TEU Containerships

Yang Ming Marine Transport Corp. (Yang Ming) signed a contract with CSBC CORPORATION, TAIWAN (CSBC) for the construction of a total of ten 2,800 TEU class full container vessels. Seaspan Acquires Eighth 14000 TEU Vessel

Seaspan Corporation (NYSE:SSW) announced today that it accepted delivery of a 14000 TEU containership, the YM Width. The new containership, which was constructed at CSBC Corporation, Taiwan ("CSBC") is Seaspan's eighth 14000 TEU SAVER design containership and fourth delivery in 2016. This is the second 14000 TEU vessel using Seaspan's fuel-efficient SAVER design constructed at CSBC. The YM Width will commence a ten-year, fixed-rate time charter with Yang Ming Marine Transport Corp. ("Yang Ming"). Yang Ming may extend the charter for up to an additional two years. The ship is the eighth of a total of nine 14000 TEU SAVER design vessels to be chartered to Seaspan by Yang Ming. The delivery of the YM Width expands the Company's operating fleet to 89 vessels.

Taiwan Launches its Highest-Capacity Container Ships

State-backed shipbuilder CSBC Corporation, Taiwan has launched two domestically developed and constructed vessels in the southern Taiwan port city of Kaohsiung, reports Taiwan Today. YM Window and YM Width are 368 meters long, 51 meters wide and can carry 14,198, 20-foot equivalent units (TEUs) of containers. A 40-foot container—the most commonly used size—is around two TEUs. CSBC Chairman Lai Sun-quae said the vessels are a significant step up from the company’s last batch of 10 container ships produced from 2011 to 2015 that could carry around 8,000 TEUs. “Window and Width are quieter and more economical,” Lai said. The improved performance of the ships will help ensure they do not fall prey to pirates off the coast of Somalia as was the case with Maersk Alabama…

Evergreen Line Orders Ten 2,800 teu Ships

Taiwanese shipping company Evergreen is ordering ten 2,800 TEU container ships from Japanese shipbuilder Imabari Shipbuilding Co.,Ltd and compatriot CSBC Corporation. The deal between the companies is to buy 10 new 2800 TEU container vessels. The Contract value is $390mln. The first ship is scheduled to be delivered during the first half of 2018 with the final ship in the series is due by the first half of 2019. These are in addition to the order for ten similar vessels announced last month from CSBC in Taiwan. In August, Evergreen had already ordered ten similar 2,800 teu container vessels at CSBC. Evergreen plans to deploy all 20 of the new ships in the intra-Asia trade lanes.

Diesel-electric Propulsion for 4 Semi-sub Ships

CSBC Corporation Taiwan has chosen Siemens to supply diesel-electric propulsion systems and other accessories for four 65,000-ton semi-submersible deck cargo vessels (SSDCVs). The country’s largest shipyard is building the vessels for a customer in Singapore. Compared to conventional mechanical propulsion technologies, Siemens’ diesel-electric system will reduce fuel costs by up to 15 percent, resulting from unique power management features, the manufacturer said. Likewise, associated propellers, rudders and thrusters will improve the vessel’s maneuverability when operating at low speeds. Evergreen Orders Ten Boxships

Evergreen Group signed an agreement with CSBC Corporation, Taiwan to build ten 2,800 TEU class B-type vessels. Witnessed by Evergreen Group's Second Vice Group Chairman Bronson Hsieh, the contracts were signed by EMC Chairman Anchor Chang and CSBC Chairman Sun-Quae Lai. The first ship will be delivered during the second half of 2017 with the completion of the series due by the first half of 2018. The vessels will be deployed in the intra-Asia trade. A naming ceremony was held for the Evergreen Group’s newest containership, Ever Lovely, the ninth of its L-type vessels to be built by CSBC Corporation in Taiwan and the penultimate vessel in a series of 30 ships. The ceremony took place at CSBC's Kaohsiung shipyard and was officiated by Bronson Hsieh, Evergreen's  Second Vice Group Chairman. The official rope-cutting of the new vessel was performed by Anna U. Taiwan's Yang Ming Marine to Add Bigger Vessels to its Fleet

Yang Ming Marine Transport Corporation, Taiwnanese global shipping and logistics services company,  will take delivery of 14 large-sized ships over the next two years, as it moves to expand its fleet of shipping vessels. At the end of March, the company took delivery of the first of 15 vessels it had ordered, each of which has a capacity of 14,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs). Naming Ceremony of Evergreen's EVER LYRIC

Evergreen Group today held the naming ceremony for EVER LYRIC, the eighth of its L-type vessels built by CSBC Corporation in Taiwan. The ceremony took place at CSBC's Kaohsiung shipyard and was officiated by Mr. Raymond Lin, Evergreen Group's Vice Group Chairman. The official rope-cutting of the new 8,508 TEU vessel was performed by Mrs. Jarijanti Buana, the wife of the Chairman of Evergreen Shipping Agency Indonesia. Owned by Evergreen Marine Corp., EVER LYRIC is 334.8 meters in length, 45.8 meters wide, with a draft of 14.2 meters. The vessel can cruise at a speed up to 24.5 knots. As a refinement to her original eco-friendly design, the vessel is fitted with a brand new energy-saving bow. This improvement enables the ship to further enhance her fuel-efficiency and reduce emissions.

Evergreen Name Fifth New Containership

Evergreen Goup say that their newbuild 'Ever Lissome', the fifth of its L-type containerships to be built by CSBC Corporation in Taiwan, has been named in a recent shipyard ceremony. The ceremony took place at China Shipbuilding Company's Kaohsiung shipyard and was officiated by Raymond Lin, Evergreen Group's Vice Group Chairman. The official rope-cutting of the new 8,508 TEU vessel was performed by Mrs. Aphinya Changariyavong, the wife of EvergreenShipping Agency (Thailand). Evergreen Group held the naming ceremony for Ever Loading, the sixth of its L-type vessels to be built by CSBC Corporation in Taiwan. The ceremony took place at CSBC's Kaohsiung shipyard and was officiated by Bronson Hsieh, Evergreen Group's Second Vice Group Chairman. Yang Ming Extends Charter Terms for Five 14,000-TEU Ships

Seaspan Corporation announced today that Yang Ming Marine Transport Corp., has confirmed the term of the fixed-rate time charters for the five 14000 TEU SAVER design containerships currently being constructed at CSBC Corporation will be extended to ten years with one two-year option. Two of these vessels previously have been allocated to Seaspan and three have been allocated to Greater China Intermodal Investments LLC ("GCI") under the right of first refusal agreement among Seaspan, GCI and Blue Water Commerce LLC. The Naming Ceremony of M/V “SITC SHANDONG” was held yesterday in Keelung Factory of CSBC Corporation, Taiwan, by SITC International Holdings Co., Ltd. Evergreen Naming Ceremony for EVER LUNAR

Evergreen Group held the naming ceremony for EVER LUNAR today, the seventh of its L-type vessels to be built by CSBC Corporation in Taiwan. The ceremony, which was officiated by Ms. Lee-Ching Ko, Second Vice Group Chairman of Evergreen Group, took place at CSBC's Kaohsiung shipyard. The official rope-cutting of the new 8,508 TEU vessel was performed by Mrs. Lin, Mei-Chun. EVER LUNAR is owned by Evergreen Marine Corporation (Taiwan) Ltd. The ship is 334.8 meters in length, 45.8 meters wide and has a draft of 14.2 meters. In common with its L-type sister ships, EVER LUNAR can cruise at speeds up to 24.5 knots. The ship will be delivered into service in January and join Evergreen Line's Far East - Arabian Persian Gulf (APG) Service.
