Mercury Marine Opens New Global Distribution Center in Indiana

Mercury Marine opened its new, purpose-built distribution center to support its parts and accessories business. The new 512,000 square foot facility is located near Indianapolis, Ind., a major thoroughfare connecting Mercury’s global customers that will improve delivery and service and will add much needed capacity for scale, stability, and reduced logistics costs, the company said.Mercury’s current distribution facility at its global headquarters in Fond du Lac, Wis., will be repurposed to support its propulsion systems…

MXB Begins Physical Operations in Mumbai

Matrix Bharat Pte. Ltd. (MXB), a supplier of marine fuels in India, has begun physical operations in Mumbai. In conjunction with this, MXB has commenced operations on Jawahar Dweep, an island off the southeastern coast of Mumbai. MXB is a joint venture between Matrix Marine Fuels and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (BPCL), one of India’s largest PSU (state owned) oil refining and marketing companies. The company will provide physical products at Mumbai’s Outer Port Limits (OPL), servicing vessels that are waiting to berth, as well as vessels making bunker-only-calls.

Maersk Line Orders 14,800 New Reefer Containers

Maersk Line has ordered 14,800 new reefer containers in 2016, driving the average age of its 270,000 unit reefer container fleet down to 7.9 years. Bomin Launches Physical Operation in Mauritius

Physical supplier and trader of marine fuel oil the Bomin Group is launching a physical operation in Port Louis, Mauritius, effective from July 12, 2016. Bomin (Mauritius) Ltd. will utilize the 2008-build, double-hulled bunker barge MT Hakkasan to provide customers with products, including IFO 180cst, as well as MGO. All deliveries will be provided under a Bomin specific Bunker Delivery Note (BDN). “Port Louis is the only official port of entry and exit for sea vessels in Mauritius, and it is critical that we have a strong physical presence here to support our customers and our global network,” said Jan Christensen, Global Head of Bunker Operations, Bomin Group.

Sea IT, Veritas Tankers Ink Long-term Software Deal

Sea IT has entered a long term ICT agreement with Veritas Tankers. The agreement comprises installation of BlueCORE Generation 4, an ICT platform specifically developed for the marine industry, and BlueCONNECT, a virtualized software which acts as mail server and carrier controller. Veritas Tankers will upgrade and have the installations made on all its vessels: Astina, Astral and Astoria. Sea IT will support Veritas Tankers during a three-year period though the Fixed BlueCORE ICT agreement.

Hiab to Present Sustainable Technology Load Handling at Elmia Lastbil Fair

Hiab, part of Cargotec, will showcase its latest sustainable technology of load handling at the Elmia Lastbil fair in Sweden. The presented products include a new vehicle solution for environmentally smart loading, the HIAB S-HiPro 130 refuse collector, as well as the new MULTILIFT XR21SL hooklift. Volvo Penta Adds Dealer in Brazil

In a bid to expand its parts and service network across the Americas, Volvo Penta said it has appointed Entreposto as its newest dealer for Industrial and Marine Commercial engines in Brazil. One of Brazil’s largest distributors of industrial equipment, Entreposto will provide customers with products, parts and service from its five branches covering the northeast region of the country. The Entreposto Group came to Brazil in 1975, starting its operation selling agriculture machines.

KVH Receives $1m Order far Nav System

KVH Industries, Inc., (Nasdaq: KVHI) announced that it has received a new $1m order for its CNS-5000, a self-contained navigation system that combines fiber optic gyro (FOG)-based inertial measurement technology from KVH with global positioning system (GPS) technology from NovAtel. This navigation solution provides the precise position and orientation of a host platform on a continuous basis, even during periods where GPS signals are blocked by natural or man-made obstructions or conditions. “This latest order, following on the heels of another $900,000 order a month ago, is evidence of the rapid acceptance of the CNS-5000 and the demand for a self-contained, commercial navigation solution,” said Dan Conway, KVH’s vice president of business development.
