South Korea's Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) delivered the second suezmax newbuilding, to Nordic American Tankers (NAT) on August 31, on time and on budget.NAT had previously ordered the three suezmax newbuildings from Samsung Shipbuilding. The first one was delivered to NAT July 10, 2018.The latest one has the name of Nordic Cygnus, which is a star constellation.Over the years, NAT has received several newbuildings from Samsung. All transactions with Samsung have been performed in a flawless way. A suezmax is able to load one million barrels of crude oil. At this time NAT has 25 suezmaxes. Wärtsilä Ship Design for Offshore Wind Farm Service Vessels
Wärtsilä has been contracted to supply the ship design for the ‘Vestland Cygnus’, a Platform Supply Vessel (PSV) owned by Norway based Norside AS that is to be converted to serve as an offshore wind farm service vessel. The conversion will take place at the Fjellstrand yard in Norway. The contract with Wärtsilä was signed in October. The re-design includes several new features, such as an accommodation module for 134 people, a 100 ton offshore crane with a range of 40 metres, and a new footpath system for transferring personnel to offshore fixtures. The vessel will have SPS (Special Purpose Ships) class notation. Following completion of the rebuild project, the ‘Vestland Cygnus’, will transport service personnel to and from wind farms.

Cygnus Begins Jacket Fabrication
The ceremonial first cut of steel for the construction of the jackets on the Cygnus gas field project was celebrated today by operator GDF SUEZ E&P U.K. and partners Centrica Energy and Bayerngas at Burntisland Fabrication’s (BiFab) Methil yard in Fife, Scotland. This latest project milestone involves BiFab’s manufacturing facilities at Methil, Burntisland and Arnish and is expected to create 100 new jobs at Methil and 15 apprentice positions will be created at Methil and Burntisland.

Proserv secure a £1.2-million contract to supply topside control equipment at a major southern North Sea development. The company was awarded the deal on the Cygnus field by operator GDF SUEZ through its design contractor AMEC. As part of the agreement Proserv will supply the design, engineering and build of wellhead control panels and accompanying topside umbilical termination unit for the Alpha and Bravo platforms. Six of the 10 development wells for both platforms will be controlled by the initial panel design and includes the commissioning of spares and specialist tools.

OMM Completes Cable Work at Greater Gabbard
Offshore Marine Management (OMM) has completed a contract with Fluor for the installation of 36 inter-array cables at the Greater Gabbard wind farm. Originally contracted to install 29 cables, the remit of OMM’s work was expanded during the course of the project to encompass provision of a full range of installation services for 36 inter-array cables, including front end pre-engineering support, installation and the delivery of a final report using in-house survey capabilities. Work was completed using the 122m vessel Deep Cygnus. Greater Gabbard is a 504MW offshore wind farm, located 25 kilometres off the Suffolk coast. Cygnus Gauges Upgraded
Resulting from innovative electronics, Cygnus Instruments has maintained it multiple echo feature, which allows for clear readings through coatings up to as much as six mm thick.
