Bunker fuel suppliers Dan-Bunkering and Amoil on Friday announced they will merge on January 1, 2023 under one combined brand, Dan-Bunkering.The move, which follows the recent merger between Dan-Bunkering and SABT in the spring of 2022, continues industry consolidation in the bunkering sector.Dan-Bunkering is headquartered in Denmark with 11 physical locations worldwide and employs more than 100 employees. Amoil has been operating out of Durban for the past 38 years, servicing clients as the first independent bunkering company in South Africa.

Dan-Bunkering  appointed Claus Bulch Klausen as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) effective May 1st, 2021, when the company commenced its new fiscal year.Klausen, who has been with the company since April 2004, has held several key roles within Dan-Bunkering, most recently as Head of Operations and as part of Dan-Bunkering’s leadership team.

Stamford, CT-based Dan-Bunkering (America)  announced the relocation of two Bunker Traders, the employment of a Senior Purchaser, and a new office address.Kasper Christiansen, Danish national, has relocated to Dan-Bunkering in Stamford as of 1 May 2019. Prior to the relocation, Kasper was working as a Senior Bunker Trader in the head office in Middelfart, Denmark; an office which he joined in 2010. He has, however, in the meantime been stationed abroad for a period of two years in Asia, thus he is thoroughly versed in various markets and holds nine years of valuable experience within the industry. Janek Ekeli, originally from Norway, also relocated to Dan-Bunkering’s Stamford office as of 1 May 2019 from another company in the group, i.e. the Middle Eastern office in Dubai.

Dan-Bunkering has announced that as per September 1, 2018, the group will merge with Sydney based Australia Bunkering Pty Ltd.The Australian company has been in business for more than a decade,  managed by Lena Johnston, but will now be rebranded and change name to Dan-Bunkering (Australia) Pty Ltd.With this merger, Dan-Bunkering will be present in yet another continent, and the company now has offices in 12 different locations worldwide.The office is supported by already existing team members who will all remain on same phone numbers.

Dan-Bunkering (America) Inc. has announced the promotion of Jim Jensen to the position of managing director as of July 1, 2017.   Jensen initially started with Dan-Bunkering as a bunker trader at its Copenhagen office in 2008 and relocated to Houston in 2012 at the same time as the opening of the group’s first American set-up, where he advanced to commercial director. Prior to joining the Dan-Bunkering Group, Jensen was employed by a large oil company in Denmark.

Three of the world’s largest bunker suppliers, including World Fuel Supplies and Dan Bunkering, have joined a team of industry experts to review BIMCO’s standard bunker contract – BIMCO Terms 2015. Shipowners will be represented by Denmark-based J Lauritzen and Norden. Legal and P&I input comes from Clyde & Co and the North of England P&I Club. The initiative is supported by the International Bunker Industry Association (IBIA) who will have a representative on the team. BIMCO Terms 2015 are increasingly accepted by suppliers and traders around the world as a fair and balanced set of terms and conditions for purchasing and delivering marine fuels.

The International Bunker Industry Association (IBIA) has appointed three new members to its Management Board and one new member to the IBIA in Africa Board. The appointments were announced at the Association’s 23th annual dinner, which was held on February 8 at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, London. Heralding the beginning of International Petroleum week, the prestigious event attracted a record number of attendees, with over 1100 bunker industry professionals at the dinner, despite the gloomy state of the industry.

Dan-Bunkering Ltd. is commencing a jury trial in San Francisco in a dispute with the California based bunker supplier, Chemoil Corporation.
