Ensco Appoints Rowsey as Non Executive Chairman

Ensco plc announced today that Paul Rowsey has been named Non-Executive Chairman of the Board following Dan Rabun’s planned retirement on 18 May 2015 concurrent with the annual general meeting of shareholders. Mr. Rowsey has been a member of Ensco’s Board of Directors since 2000. He most recently served as Lead Director and remains Chairman of the Nominating and Governance Committee. Mr. Rowsey said, “I am honored to have been selected by the Board to serve in my new role as Non-Executive Chairman. Mr. Rabun served as Chairman following his retirement as President and CEO in 2014. He served on Ensco’s Board of Directors since 2006 and was appointed CEO and Chairman in 2007. Ensco plc brings energy to the world as a global provider of offshore drilling services to the petroleum industry.

Enso Report Record Earnings, Revenues in Q3 2013

Offshore drilling rig owners Ensco plc record revenues of US$1.3-Billion in their third quarter 2013 financial report. Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Dan Rabun stated, “During the third quarter, we accepted delivery of two more rigs that will commence multi-year contracts later this year - - ENSCO DS-7, an ultra-deepwater drillship, and ENSCO 120, an ultra-premium harsh environment jackup. Mr. Earnings increased $35 million to a record $379 million. Revenues grew 13% to a record $1.266 billion in third quarter 2013 from $1.124 billion a year ago. The average day rate for the fleet increased 13% to $225,000, mostly due to adding ENSCO 8506 and ENSCO DS-6 to the active fleet…

Ensco Q2 2013 Contracted Revenue Backlog $11-biliion

Offshore drilling services provider Ensco on the crest of the wave according to their second quarter 2013 financial results. Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Dan Rabun stated, “We continue to see strong, broad-based customer demand given the steady pace of new discoveries that must be appraised and developed. Mr. Revenues grew 17% to a record $1.248 billion in second quarter 2013 from $1.071 billion a year ago. Operating income grew 12% to $452 million and earnings increased $20 million to a record $361 million.

Deepwater Market Surge Spurs Ensco Drillship Order

UK-based Ensco has ordered an additional advanced-capability DP3 ultra-deepwater drillship based on the Samsung GF12000 hull design. The vessel, ENSCO DS-10, will be the eighth Samsung DP3 drillship in the Ensco fleet, further extending the benefits of Ensco’s fleet standardization strategy. It will be built at the Samsung Heavy Industries, Co. Ltd. (SHI) shipyard in South Korea, with delivery scheduled for the third quarter of 2015. The agreement includes an option for an additional drillship of the same design. Ensco Chairman, President and CEO Dan Rabun said, “We continue to see very strong demand for rigs in existing deepwater markets, along with growing demand from emerging exploration areas.

Ultra-deepwater Semisubmersible Rig Delivered to Ensco

The rig is contracted to Anadarko for work in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico starting in December 2012. “The construction and successful commencement of the ENSCO 8500 Series distinguish Ensco from other offshore drillers,” said Dan Rabun, Chairman, President and CEO of Ensco plc. “We undertook this series in 2005 based on our reading of the market and of our customers’ needs, and time has proven us right on both counts. The series has been notable for its reliability and high uptime. The ENSCO 8500 Series rigs were the first to be recertified by regulators for work in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico following the Macondo incident, and achieved 97 percent utilization worldwide in 2011.

ABS to Class Ensco Deepwater Drillships

Ensco plc has selected ABS as the class society for its advanced-capability, ultra deepwater drillship to be built at the Samsung Heavy Industries, Co. Ltd (SHI) Shipyard in Geoje, South Korea. The ENSCO DS-8 will be the sixth Samsung DP3 drillship in the fleet and will extend the benefits of Ensco’s fleet standardization strategy. With drilling capabilities in water depths to 12,000 feet and a total vertical drilling depth of 40,000 feet, this new vessel will meet the demands of ultra deepwater drilling. “Samsung is the market leader in drillship newbuilds and utilizes advanced shipbuilding technology. We’re proud that ABS will be the first class society to deliver this new drillship design,” says In Yong Jeong, ABS District Principle Surveyor.

Keppel Wins Enscor $245m Jackup Deal

Keppel FELS Limited (Keppel FELS) has secured a contract to build an enhanced KFELS Super A Class harsh environment jackup rig from Ensco plc (NYSE: ESV) for $245 million. The rig is scheduled for delivery in 3Q 2014. This contract arose from the exercise of an option which was part of Ensco's order of two KFELS Super A Class rigs on 10 February 2011. Mr. Dan Rabun, Chairman and CEO of Ensco plc, said, "Ensco's new series of jackup rigs are enhanced versions of the KFELS Super A Class design that will provide increased levels of efficiency for customers. By building these new Super A Class jackups, we will continue Ensco's tradition of delivering leading customer service with one of the largest and youngest premium jackup fleets in the world.

Keppel Wins $440M Twin Jackup Rig Contract from Ensco

Keppel FELS Limited (Keppel FELS) has secured a contract to build two enhanced KFELS Super A Class harsh environment jackup rigs from a subsidiary of Ensco plc (NYSE: ESV) at a shipyard price of about $440m. These rigs are scheduled for delivery in the second and fourth quarters of 2013. As part of its contract with Keppel FELS, Ensco has options to order two more similar jackup units. Mr Dan Rabun, Chairman and CEO of Ensco plc, said, "The new rig orders reflect our commitment to continually high-grade our fleet. Operators' requirements will continue to increase over time and it is Ensco's strategy and intention to maintain our position at the high end of the premium jackup market.

Ensco Acquires High-Specification Jackup Rig

Ensco said that a subsidiary of the company has purchased Diamond Offshore's Ocean Shield jackup drilling rig, a KFELS Super B Class design, delivered in 2008. The rig will be renamed ENSCO 109. The unique design includes two million pound hoisting capacity, a 15,000 psi high-pressure BOP and nearly 5,000 bbls of liquid mud capacity that make ENSCO 109 ideally suited to drill deep gas wells -- a high growth area in the premium jackup market. The design also permits drilling in water depths up to 350' to a total depth of 35,000'. Industry-wide, all of the KFELS Super B Class jackups are contracted.
