Interview: Will Roberts, President, Foss Maritime

Will Roberts joined Seattle-based Foss Maritime in 2017 as chief commercial officer, and in 2018 he was named chief operating officer. Prior to joining Foss, Roberts held a number of leadership roles for marine systems and services provider Rolls-Royce, rising to senior vice president, customer and services–Americas. A U.S. Navy veteran, Roberts served as a qualified deck and engineering officer aboard the fast attack submarine USS Honolulu. He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy with a degree in ocean engineering and holds a Master of Engineering Management from Old Dominion University.

Roberts Joins Foss as Chief Commercial Officer

Will Roberts has joined Foss Maritime as Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), responsible for building the customer facing team to drive and sustain the company’s market share and long-term revenue generation. CCO is a newly developed position at Foss Maritime. In his role as CCO, Roberts will set out to advance Foss’ global perspective on market opportunities and lead in the assessment and prioritization of geographic and operational market segments through marketing, sales and business development activities.

Malcolm Elected to General Dynamics Board

The board of directors of General Dynamics has elected Mark Malcolm to be a director of the corporation, effective August 5, 2015. He has been appointed to serve on the Audit Committee. Malcolm is the president and chief executive officer of Tower International, Inc. (NYSE: TOWR), a position he has held since August 2007. Tower International is one of the largest independent global suppliers of engineered automotive structural metal components and assemblies for major vehicle manufacturers. Previously Malcolm worked for Ford Motor Company for 28 years, with his final position as executive vice president and controller of Ford Credit, from 2004 to 2005.

The U.S. How did an urgent requirement to build a road to Alaska end up helping to design submarines and to recover oil spills in the Arctic ice? The Army Corps of Engineers was faced with a monumental challenge of building a highway to connect the “lower 48” to Alaska during World War II to keep America’s northernmost territory secure from invasion. The road crossed hundreds of miles of wilderness, and much of the roadbed sat up permafrost, presenting challenges to America’s roadbuilders.

Abigail Ross Hopper Named BOEM Director

Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell today named Abigail Ross Hopper as the Director of the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM), which manages the development of our nation’s conventional and renewable energy and marine mineral resources on the Outer Continental Shelf. Hopper currently serves as the Director of the Maryland Energy Administration and will assume her new position on January 5, 2015, as the second director in BOEM's history.
