New UTM Payload Available for Scout 137 Drone System

Consortium Targets Better Ship Efficiency and Navigation

A consortium of companies aims to develop an expert decision support system for improved ship efficiency and safer navigation via a two-year R&D project called iSea. Backed by funding from the Eurostars program, the iSea innitiative is led by Danelec Marine, with other participants including Vessel Performance Solutions ApS (Denmark), i-Marine Technologies and Research Inc. (Turkey) and Deniztekno Danismanlik Bilgi Teknolojileri ve Bilgisayar San. Tic. Std. Sti (Turkey). Set to commence the R&D program in January 2017, the iSea team will deliver a set of Expert Decision Support Systems (EDSS) for enhancing the performance and navigability of vessels.

Intertrac Vision Incorporates Cruise Vessels

AkzoNobel’s marine coatings business has announced the addition of cruise vessels to Intertrac Vision, its ‘big data’ tool that provides accurate and transparent predictions on the fuel and CO2 savings potential of fouling control coatings, prior to application. The new version of Intertrac Vision brings an increased level of transparency and choice to the cruise sector, enabling AkzoNobel to work consultatively with customers to ensure the most effective and appropriate coatings solution is selected for each vessel within a fleet.

Acta Marine Inks VSAT Deal with Alphatron Marine

Alphatron Marine announced it has signed a leasing agreement with Acta Marine for to provide satellite hardware and data solution packages for 13 vessels. Alphatron Marine’s VSAT system including Wireless access will be integrated into the IT infrastructure on the Acta Marine fleet of Multicats, Tugs and Shoalbusters, enabling an unlimited dataflow for both operations and crew welfare. Alphatron Marine VSAT Systems for 11 Workboats

Alphatron Marine has signed a lease contract with Seacontractors for no less than 11 vessels to provide satellite hardware and data solution packages. Alphatron Marine’s VSAT system will be installed alongside the existing IT infrastructure on nine Seacontractors B-Class workboats and two A-Class workboats, consisting of Anchor Handling Tug Supply (AHTS) and Multicats, mainly operating in Western Europe and the Middle East. Alphatron Marine’s solution will include an 80cm VSAT system, 19-inch rack, access points, switching, routing, UPS, modem and VoIP gateway.

VSAT Connectivity by Globecomm for Malaysia's PBJV Group

Globecomm Maritime, a leading provider of maritime communications solutions, has been awarded a contract to provide VSAT connectivity to PBJV Group's barge Kota Laksamana 101. The barge, which accommodates up to 300 personnel, was recently chartered to Petronas, a fully integrated energy company based in Malaysia. Under the terms of the deal, PBJV is required to provide a dedicated 512kbps up and down link to Petronas staff working on board the vessel. Globecomm Asia Regional Sales Manager Kian Ong, who led the project, says the scope of Globecomm's solution exceeded PBJV's expectations, despite intense competition for the contract.

Globecomm to Provide VSAT for PBJV Barge

Purpose-built accommodation and pipe-lay barge on charter to Petronas equipped with VSAT and L-Band services. Globecomm Maritime has been awarded a contract to provide VSAT connectivity to PBJV Group’s barge Kota Laksamana 101. Globecomm will provide Ku-Band VSAT connectivity with L-band back-up to the specialist vessel during its deployment in waters off Bintulu. The barge, which accommodates up to 300 personnel, was recently chartered to Petronas, a fully integrated energy company based in Malaysia.

Marlink Signs Deal with Kyma

OSLO, Norway and ROCKVILLE, Maryland (October 27, 2003) - Marlink today announced that it has signed a five-year agreement with the owners of the MV Mona Lisa, represented by Kyma Ship Management, Inc. of Miami, Florida, to provide complete satellite communications onboard the vessel. The agreement calls for Marlink, a company within Telenor Satellite Services formed to serve as the preferred interface between maritime customers and the satellite communications industry, to provide Sealink high-speed communications service. Operating at speeds up to 2 Megabits per second, the Sealink solution allows guests and crew to enjoy greater access to the Internet, e-mail, fax services, and telephone service.

Telenor Launches New Service

Telenor Satellite Services today announced the commercial launch of Telenor Fleet F55, the first high-speed data solution available for coastal and regional vessels and large yachts. The company also announced that it plans to commercially launch the third member of the Inmarsat Fleet family, Fleet F33, by the end of November. The two new services provide small to medium-sized vessels a powerful communications solution incorporating global voice and a range of data and fax services. Xantic To Offer Fleet 33, Fleet 55 Services Globally

Xantic has become the first company to announce the availability of the new Fleet 33 and Fleet 55 services. Last Friday a contract was signed with Nera for upgrades of both Xantic Land Earth StationsLES’s in Holland (Burum) and Australia (Perth). The services will be available early April and will be provided in the 4 Ocean regions. At the same time Xantic’s Fleet 77 service will be enhanced by the addition of a 9.6k fax channel. Fleet 33 / Fleet 55 are the new Inmarsat services specifically targeted at smaller vessels who have data requirements.
