Kort Propulsion Appoints Senior Sales Exec.

David Dalgleish appointed Senior Sales Executive by Kort Propulsion Ltd, a UK company founded by the inventor of the Kort Nozzle. "Kort’s expertise as propeller and Kort nozzle specialists, means the company has an unparalleled reputation in the propulsion field. We offer packages which include detailed calculations necessary to meet specific performance criteria and we are also able to supply the complete power train, which includes prime movers, marine gears,  through to the propellers and, of course, Kort Nozzles. Naval architects and boat builders have been increasingly availing themselves of Kort’s experience especially when achieving the right balance between performance, operating economy and environmental legislation – an area which Kort’s experience allows us to excel in.

Rotkirch Named Chairman and CEO of Grand Bahama Shipyard

Carl-Gustaf (Calle) Rotkirch, a 32-year maritime industry veteran, has been named Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Grand Bahama Shipyard, Ltd., effective August 1, 2008. In this capacity, Rotkirch will oversee all operations of the shipyard, which is one of the largest cruise ship repair facilities in the world; Grand Bahama Shipyard services more than 100 cruise ships, cargo vessels, tankers, and naval vessels annually. Managing Director David Dalgleish will continue his day to day operation of the yard while reporting directly to Rotkirch.

Millman Steps Down From Grand Bahama Shipyard

Freeport’s Grand Bahama Shipyard (GBS) has announced that current President & CEO, Chris Millman has decided to step down from his position and is to leave the Company. Chris has been with the Shipyard for over four years and in that short time he has overseen its growth from a construction site into one of the region’s foremost ship repair centres. Citing personal reasons for his decision, Chris said that he was leaving GBS to return to the UK with his family, although not before taking a well-earned break. He stated “It has been a roller coaster ride over the last few years. I shall always look back at this period with immense pride in what we have achieved and with great appreciation for those who helped to achieve it”.
