McDermott Gets Saipem as Partner for NextDecade

McDermott Closing CB&I Deal

Offshore engineering firm McDermott International Inc will close its acquisition of Chicago Bridge and Iron Co NV on Thursday, creating an integrated onshore and offshore services group that will expand its presence in the Middle East.McDermott's offshore engineering and construction work will combine with CB&I's onshore skills including liquefied natural gas (LNG) and power plants. McDermott will bolster its service offerings in Saudi Arabia, where it is already adding facilities and has contracts with national oil company Saudi Aramco.David Dickson, McDermott's chief executive officer who this week met with Saudi Aramco executives in Houston, said on Tuesday the kingdom "is going to be a big part of our future.

The Woodmac report we saw offered us cause for pause — “Strong activity from the (major oil companies)” while “national oil companies have tightened their purse strings.” What Maritime Reporter found, was that national oil companies — nation-builders, for many — are putting their money in affiliate shipyards. The hope of two, new shipbuilding giants is jobs, innovation, national survival and export security. The model is to invite those who have done it before: Koreans, Japanese, French and a contractor with offshore and marine experience.

McDermott, Saudi Aramco Sign MoU

McDermott International has signed another memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Saudi Aramco to expand and develop the company’s physical and human capital within Saudi Arabia as part of Aramco’s In-Kingdom Total Value Add (IKTVA) initiative. The MOU was signed as part of the first ever Saudi-U.S. CEO Forum. McDermott was the only engineering, construction, procurement, and installation (EPCI) services contractor attending the summit along with other major U.S. business leaders. The forum was organized to coincide with U.S. President Donald Trump’s visit to Saudi Arabia. At the forum, Saudi ministers and CEOs from major U.S. companies met to discuss expanding business between the U.S. and Saudi Arabia.

McDermott Names Flagship Pipelayer in Singapore

McDermott International, Inc. formally named its flagship Derrick Lay Vessel 2000 (DLV 2000) during a ceremony at the Keppel Singmarine Shipyard in Singapore. Brenda Cuthbertson, wife of 38-year McDermott employee and Asia Area Vice President Hugh Cuthbertson, served as the vessel’s godmother and named the DLV 2000 with the traditional breaking of champagne during the ceremony. The ceremony was attended by invited guests, McDermott and Keppel executives and employees and was followed by guided tours and lunch on the vessel.

McDermott, L&T Enter Agreement for India Deepwater Market

McDermott International, Inc. (NYSE: MDR) signed a long-term exclusive agreement with L&T Hydrocarbon Engineering (LTHE), a wholly owned subsidiary of Larsen & Toubro, focused on subsea projects offshore the east coast of India. “This exclusive agreement further strengthens the relationship between McDermott and LTHE, both companies that have successfully cooperated on several earlier projects in India and, more recently, won the Vashishta deepwater development project,” said David Dickson, McDermott’s President and CEO.

Rigid Reel-Lay Pipe-in-Pipe Installed Offshore Malaysia

McDermott International, Inc. reports that its subsidiary has become the first to install rigid reel-lay pipe-in-pipe in Asia-Pacific for the Siakap North-Petai (SNP) development project offshore Malaysia. At more than 3,900 feet (1,190 meters), the SNP development is one of the industry’s most challenging deepwater projects. “Successfully installing the rigid reeled pipe-in-pipe flowlines on the Siakap project is a significant achievement for McDermott and a first for the region,” said David Dickson, President and Chief Executive Officer, McDermott.

McDermott Get Big Middle East Offshore Contract

McDermott International, Inc. informs that one of its subsidiaries has been awarded a large engineering, procurement, construction and installation (“EPCI”) project by an operator in the Arabian Gulf. The award is included in McDermott’s fourth quarter 2013 backlog. The contract includes the engineering, fabrication, transportation and installation of four new offshore topsides facilities, plus modification of two existing production facilities to extend the current deck space and maximize the size of modules. The combined total weight of the structures will exceed 3,500 metric tonnes.

Gulf of Mexico Pipeline Contract for Technip

Technip wins Discovery System lump sum pipeline installation contract for Discovery’s South Timbalier Block 283 Junction Platform project. David Dickson, Technip’s Senior Vice President, North America Region, declared: “This award is the largest-diameter pipelay contract for Technip in the Gulf of Mexico, thanks to the acquisition of Global Industries. The pipelines will be installed between existing facilities in South Timbalier 280 and Ewing Bank 873 and the new platform in Block 283, at water depths ranging from 83 to 244 meters. •    13.9 kilometers of 30” pipeline. Technip's operating center in Houston, Texas will perform the overall project management and engineering. Offshore installation will be performed in 2013 with the G1200 as the primary installation vessel for all pipelay.
