Bollinger Lays Keel for USNS Muscogee Creek Nation

Bollinger Shipyards announced it has laid the keel for the future USNS Muscogee Creek Nation at its yard in Houma, La.The vessel is the 10th Navajo-class Towing, Salvage and Rescue Ship (T-ATS) and the fifth T-ATS vessel being constructed by Bollinger since acquiring the program in April of 2021.The keel authenticators were the Hon. Hill Dickinson Managing Partner Patrick Hawkins Dead at 59

International maritime law specialist Hill Dickinson announced the death of Patrick Hawkins, head of its office in Greece.Hawkins died in the hospital on August 20, having suffered a heart attack in early July. His funeral took place in Athens on Monday.Announcing his death, David Wareing and Tony Goldsmith, heads of Hill Dickinson’s Marine and Trade Group, said, “It is with enormous sadness that we have to inform you of the passing of our much loved colleague Patrick Hawkins.

USACE Gets Bird’s-eye View of Houston Ship Channel Growth

The 53rd U.S. Army Chief of Engineers and Commanding General of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Lt. Gen. Thomas P. Bostick, visited the Port of Houston Authority last week and was given an aerial tour of the Houston Ship Channel as part of a briefing that highlighted economic growth along the federal waterway. He and Corps staff from the Galveston District met with Port Authority officials to review and discuss federal projects currently under way and planned for the Houston area. Coast Guard Cutter to Welcome New Commanding Officer

The Vigorous, homeported in Cape May N.J., will welcome a new commanding officer during an onboard change-of-command ceremony at 6 p.m. Friday in Cape May. Cmdr. Michael C. Husak from Operations Policy Directorate at Coast Guard Headquarters, Washington, D.C. will relieve Capt. David L. Hill, who will continue his career at the Industrial College of the Armed Forces. Vice Adm. James D. Hull, Coast Guard Atlantic Area commander and Commander, Maritime Defense Zone Atlantic will preside. Vice Adm. Thad Allen, Coast Guard Chief of Staff, will be a guest of honor. Husak is a native of Syracuse, N.Y. He is a 1984 graduate of the United States Coast Guard Academy in New London, Conn.
