Svitzer Building New Training Center in Australia

Marine towage provider Svitzer Australia is building a new facility to deliver enhanced maritime training capabilities to the East Coast of New South Wales (NSW).The company reports construction is underway at its Port of Newcastle tug base, where Svitzer’s innovative, new TRAnsverse tug vessels are forecast to enter service in 2025 (the second and third to be deployed in the world). Svitzer Orders Kongsberg Digital Simulators in Australia

Towage provider Svitzer has selected Kongsberg Digital to deliver new simulators in support of crew training at its Port of Newcastle base in Australia. The contract with Kongsberg will help create a training center of excellence for the deployment of Svitzer’s new TRAnsverse tug vessels entering service in Newcastle in early 2025.The contract comprises the delivery of a training suite in Q2 2024. The delivery encompasses a full-mission 360° K-Sim Navigation simulator configured as a tug bridge, and a part-task 180° K-Sim Navigation ship’s bridge simulator.

Eminox, KBB Partner in Marine Engine Emission Reduction Solution

Aker Solutions Appoints Head of Industry & Investor Relations

Aker Solutions says it has recruited David Phillips from HSBC Global Equity Research as head of industry and investor relations. He will start on June 17, 2014. Phillips, 43, served as global co-head of oil and gas research and managing director at HSBC since mid-2011 after joining the bank as an analyst in 2005. He earlier specialized as an analyst covering the chemicals sector for banks including Commerzbank, Morgan Stanley and Dresdner Kleinwort Benson. He will be based at Aker Solutions' London office and report to the company's chief financial officer. Ecoshield Wins Industry Award

Subsea Industries, a Hydrex company, announced that its Ecoshield coating system, which offers protection from cavitation and corrosion/erosion damage for ship hulls, rudders and ship underwater running gear, has been recognized with an industry award. The 2014 Innovation in Ship Operations Award was accepted for Subsea Industries by David Phillips, Hydrex Group Communications Executive at an awards dinner in London on April 14, 2014. Boud Van Rompay, Founder of Hydrex and Subsea Industries and the developer of Ecoshield said, “We are delighted to receive this prestigious award.
