Vestdavit Hits New Sales Record as Orders Increase 76% From Last Year

Norwegian davit supplier Vestdavit has notched up a new annual sales record for another consecutive year after seeing its order intake surge by 76% in 2023 on high demand from the offshore wind and oil and gas sectors, as well as increased sales in its core naval market.Vestdavit has expanded its market position in offshore wind after both gaining new customers and winning repeat orders with existing clients, including Esvagt and Rem Offshore, with orders in this sector accounting for more than $9.4 million (NOK 100 million)ā€¦

Vestdavit To Supply US Navy With Davits for New Class of Oilers

Davits supplied by Vestdavit will be used for the launch and recovery of fast craft to support refuelling operations at sea for the US naval fleet after the company was awarded a major contract for six vessels being built by General Dynamics NASSCO in the US.The contract covers delivery of 12 high-specification PLRH-5000 davits to be installed on the John Lewis-class of T-AO oilers ordered by the US Navy at the shipbuilderā€™s San Diego shipyard, with two on each ship from T-AOā€¦

Vestdavit Develops Innovative Davit for Esvagt SOV Newbuild

Vestdavit has developed an innovative heavy-duty davit for larger offshore wind workboats to be delivered for a green-fueled service operation vessel (SOV) newbuild as part of a multiple davit contract with Esvagt.Danish shipowner Esvagt earlier this year announced an order at Turkeyā€™s Cemre Shipyard for an SOV to operate on green fuels under a joint newbuild project with compatriot offshore wind operator Ørsted.Powered by batteries and dual-fuel engines, the 93-meter-long vessel will be capable of sailing on renewable e-methanol produced from wind energy and biogenic carbonā€¦

Offshore Wind: Vestdavit Nets CSOV Davit Order

Vestdavit said Monday it had secured a contract to deliver its docking-head davit technology on a construction service operation vessel (CSOV) being built for Rem Offshore by Norwegian shipbuilding group VARD.The order for a PAP-15000 davit with painter boom has been secured with contractor Mare Safety for the first of two firm newbuild CSOVs that is due to be delivered in the first half of 2023 from Vard Søviknes.The PAP-15000 has an anti-pendulation system with a fully integrated docking head that is compensated for movement in three dimensionsā€¦

Vestdavit Inks Deal for Davit Systems for NOAA RV Newbuilds

Vestdavit secured a contract with Thoma-Sea Marine Constructors to supply one of its HN-5000 workboat davits for each of the two vessels, NOAA ocean reasearch vessels. To be named Oceanographer and Discoverer, the ships are under construction for the NOAA at the Louisiana-based fabrication yard.The HN-5000 davits, due for delivery in mid-2023, are designed for reliable launch and recovery in variable sea states of workboats that will be used to carry out diverse missions ranging from general oceanographic research and exploration to marine life, climate and ocean ecosystem studies.

Vestdavit wins Contract to Supply on new USCG Icebreaker

Vestdavit won a tender with Pascagoula, Miss. shipbuilder Halter Marine to supply marine davits for the U.S. Coast Guardā€™s new Polar Security Cutter (PSC). The 460-foot vessel will support U.S. operations in Arctic and Antarctic waters.Two HNFE-5000 davit systems from Vestdavit will launch and recover the Coast Guardā€™s ā€˜Over the Horizonā€™ rigid-hull inflatable boat, designed to intercept fast and non-compliant vessels, from the PSCā€™s enclosed bay. Vestdavit to Deliver Boat-handling Systems to US Navy

Davit supplier Vestdavit said its U.S. operation has won a contract to deliver boat launch-and-recovery systems to two U.S. Navy Expeditionary Fast Transport (EPF) vessels currently being built by global shipbuilder Austal at its yard in Mobile, Ala.Vestdavit Inc. will supply a 2TDB-7000 davit system to each of EPF 13 and EPF 14, the latest vessels to be commissioned as part of the U.S. Navyā€™s EPF program. With EPF 13 due for delivery in late 2021, both ships will be deployed in the high-speedā€¦

Vestdavit won a tender from Chantiers de lā€™Atlantique to supply davit systems for four new logistic support ships due delivery to the French Navy under the FLOTLOG (Flotte Logistique) program. The acquisition covers a complete steel fabrication, engineering and construction facility in Redzikowo, Poland, from where Tritec has been supporting Vestdavit as its principal davit assembly partner for more than a decade.ā€œWith 65 dedicated employees specializing in steel-structure manufacturing, hydraulic and mechanical assembly, and the factory-acceptance testing required for davits from 1 to 16 tons, Tritec is a worthy addition to our enterprise,ā€ says Vestdavit Managing Director Rolf Andreas Wigand.

The latest lifeboat to join the fleet of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, the main sea rescue service in the UK and Ireland, is the waterjet-propelled Shannon class, which the organization says is its most agile and maneuverable all-weather lifeboat yet to be deployed. Designed entirely in-house by RNLI engineers, cutting-edge technology has been used in this new boat to meet modern-day rescue service demands following the lead taken with the RNLIā€™s introduction of the Shannonā€™s sister lifeboat classā€¦

MacGregor Davits for Esvagt SOV

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, said it has won new davit orders from Spanish shipyard Astilleros Zamakona. They are destined for a service operation vessel (SOV) owned by the Danish company Esvagt AS. The contract includes an order for one of MacGregor's largest davit systems, specially-designed to ensure safe transfers in rough weather. Equipment deliveries are scheduled for November 2018 and the order was booked in Cargotec's fourth quarter 2017 order intake. The vessel will feature one of MacGregor's largest davitsā€¦

Norsafe Secures $23 mln in Contracts

Norsafe reported that it has secured more than 200 million NOK ($23.6 million) in LSA contracts that have been put out to tender so far this year. In addition to the recently announced contract with Kværner for delivery of three of Norsafeā€™s largest freefall lifeboats with davit systems to the Njord A platform, Norsafe has won several other significant contracts, both for new builds and upgrade projects. The company has also launched new products including its first rigid inflatable boatā€¦

MacGregor Wins Davit systems Order for Two SOVs

MacGregor has won davit orders for two low-emission 81m service operation vessels (SOVs) designed to act as 'mother-ships' for wind turbine technicians. The contracts have been placed by Spanish shipyard GONDAN, responsible for the construction of the SOVs. The order was booked in Cargotec's 2016 third quarter order intake. The SOVs have been ordered by Norwegian operator Østensjø Rederi. They will serve UK-headquartered DONG Energy's Race Bank and Project One offshore wind farms in the North Sea. Each vessel will be fitted with a MacGregor HMD G110 davit designed for launching and recovery of personnel-carrying 'daughter' craft and a MacGregor HMD A34 davit designed for launching and recovery of rescue boats.

Tersan Shipyard Orders Deck Equipment

PALFINGER MARINE and Harding Safety recently signed a contract to provide lifesaving equipment and cranes for two fishing vessels being built in Tersan Shipyard. Each vessel will be equipped with two PALFINGER MARINE knuckle boom cranes, one A-frame fast rescue boat davit, and one fast rescue boat. Harding Safety, which was acquired by PALFINGER in June of this year, will be supplying the fast rescue boats. This contract represents the first results of the  Joining Forces strategy. The cranes were sold by Marsis, PALFINGER MARINEā€™s long-time partner in Turkey: ā€œTersan Shipyard has been a long-time customer for our cranes and davits.

Norsafe, VARD Ink lifeboats Supply Deal

Norsafe has signed a new contract with VARD Group, and will supply lifeboats complete with davit systems to a series of fifteen new vessels. Topaz Energy and Marine has appointed shipbuilder VARD Group to construct fifteen Module Carrying Vessels (MCVs), each measuring 123m long by 16.5m wide. The MCVs will be built at three of VARDā€™s sites in Vietnam and Romania. Norsafe will deliver two JYN 57 conventional lifeboats with LHD-60 davit systems to each vessel. The unique design of Norsafeā€™s LHD-60 davits offers stability, and this is also achieved through a low to the ground installation, which is ideal for placement on the narrow vessels.

Fugro-Geoteam, with headquarters in Oslo, is one of the worldā€™s larger offshore seismic contractors operating 8 seismic vessels world-wide. Several of the vessels are equipped with as many as five Vestdavit davit systems. Øyvind Norlen, marine superintendent, Fugro, says, ā€œMy absolute priority is to keep our fleet operating safely with no injuries, downtime or failures. We use davits to launch and recover work boats and FRCs on a frequent basis. Davits are critical to our operation and to providing a safe working environment for our crews.

Vesdavit Wins Large Austrailian contracts

Vestdavit secures Australian Customs patrol boat order from Austal. NORWAY-based boat handling system and specialised davit supplier Vestdavit has been contracted by shipbuilder Austal to supply its state-of-the-art PLAR-6500 davits to eight new Cape Class Patrol Boats (CCPBs) to be built for the Australian Customs and Border Protection Service. Austal will build the 58.1 m Cape Class Patrol Boats at its shipyard in Henderson, Western Australia. Construction of the first vessel is expected to begin soon, with all eight due to be delivered between March 2013 and August 2015.

Norway-based boat handling system and specialised davit supplier Vestdavit has developed a sliding davit solution which permits easy handling and maintenance of rescue craft  in Artic conditions. Vestdavitā€™s PLR-3600 MOB/FRC davit is DNV and ABS approved for work in -40 degree C and can handle MOB boats and Fast Rescue Craft safely in Arctic conditions. ā€œAs the Arctic opens up to shipping and oil exploration, there is more and more need for the specialised vessels which can operate in those conditions,ā€ says Atle Kalve, development manager, Vestdavit.
