Alfa Laval to Provide Fuel Supply System for Six Methanol-fueled Containerships

Alfa Laval said its FCM Methanol will be the low-flashpoint fuel supply system (LFSS) on six 1170 TEU containerships ordered by Eastaway, a member of the X-Press Feeders Group. The new vessel series, to be built at Chinese shipyards Ningbo Xinle Shipbuilding Group Co., Ltd and New Dayang Shipbuilding Co., Ltd, will have two-stroke MAN B&W ME-LGIM engines that can run on methanol as well as conventional fuels. DNV GL, New Dayang Shipbuilding Agree on JDP

As part of the strategic cooperation agreement signed between SUMEC Marine Company Ltd. and DNV GL last year, SUMEC’s New Dayang Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. and DNV GL have agreed on a Joint Development Project (JDP) to update the Crown 63.5k Bulk Carrier design. The agreement was signed at the Nor-Shipping trade fair in Oslo.The JDP will include the application of the new harmonized common structural rules (HCSR) to the design, as well as a focus on improving the energy efficiency of the design, particularly in the ship board machinery and electrical systems.

Eagle Bulk Buys Ultramax Bulkcarrier

Eagle Bulk Shipping announced that it has acquired a 2015-built CROWN-63 Ultramax bulkcarrier for a purchase price of USD 21.275 million. The vessel was constructed at Yangzhou Dayang Shipbuilding CO.,LTD., the same yard as the nine Ultramaxes acquired by the Company earlier this year, and is of similar design. The vessel is scheduled to be delivered to the Company in January 2018, and will be renamed the M/V New London Eagle. Including the M/V New London Eagle, the Company’s fleet will consist of 47 vessels, including 12 Ultramaxes acquired over the last 12 months. Eagle Bulk Shipping Inc. is a Marshall Islands corporation headquartered in Stamford, Connecticut. Eagle Bulk owns one of the largest fleets of Supramax/Ultramax dry bulk vessels in the world.

Diana Shipping Abandons Kamsarmax Order

Diana Shipping Inc. today announced that, through a wholly-owned subsidiary, it provided a notice of cancellation of the shipbuilding contract with Yangzhou Dayang Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. and Shanghai Sinopacific International Trade Co., Ltd., dated January 8, 2014 (the “Contract”), and Addendum No. 1 to the Contract dated April 21, 2014 with Sumec Marine Co., Ltd. with respect to a Kamsarmax dry bulk carrier, Hull No. DY6006, with an original delivery date of May 31, 2016. Paragon Sells Ships, Defer Deliveries

The dry bulk operator Paragon Shipping has reached an agreement with its creditors to liquidate its remaining fleet in order to settle one of its debt obligations. The company agrees to sell its six mortgaged vessels to unaffiliated third parties in exchange for the full and final settlement of the outstanding amount of its syndicated loan facility. "The fleet, consisting of the handysize and panamax bulkers Coral Seas, Golden Seas, Prosperous Seas, Precious Seas, Priceless Seas and Proud Seas, is to be sold to unnamed, unaffiliated third parties," Paragon said. Paragon also says it is in talks with Jiangsu Yangzijiang to extend the deliveries of its three Kamsarmax newbuilding drybulk carriers towards the end of 2016 at no extra cost to the company.

Dayang Shipbuilding Delivers 200th Ship

An IMR GPA696 was recently christened and delivered at Dayang Shipbuilding Co. on October 15, 2014, a significant milestone in that the ship is the 200th ship built since the company was founded 10 years ago.

Latest Global Ocean Trade Shipbuilding Orders

The past week was relatively quiet with no shipbuilding orders seen in the tankship or gas carrier sector, according to the latest Clarkson Hellas S&P Weekly Bulletin. A large order of twelve firm plus eighteen option 64,000 DWT Ultramax vessels was placed from Minsheng Financial Leasing at their compatriot yard in China, CIC Jiangsu. The vessels will be delivered from 2015. Victoria Steamship contracted one firm plus three option 95,000 DWT Bulk Carriers at Jiangsu Eastern due for delivery from 3Q 2015 onwards.

SinoPacific Signs Deal for Six OSVs

The SINOPACIFIC Shipbuilding Group signed a newbuilding contract of 4 SPP35 platform supply vessels (PSV) and a Letter of Intention of 2 large SPP50 PSVs with SLOK Nigeria Ltd. The six vessels are scheduled to be delivered by the end of 2014. This marks the first time that independently designed offshore supply vessel (OSV) products of SINOPACIFIC direct selling to the African market, signifying the growing maturity and acceptance of the SP brand within the market. Sinopacific Shipbuilding Group, Leading the Supramax Bulk Carrier Market, Secures Order for 4+2 Crown 63 Ships. Sinopacific Shipbuilding Group secured an order for 4+2 Crown 63 (63,500 DWT) Supramax bulk carriers from a foreign ship owner on October 8. The Crown 63 is a new generation bulk carrier which is self designed by Sinopacific Shipbuilding Group. This ship became the focus of attention from around the shipping world as soon as it was introduced on the market, and many orders were quickly received for it.

Eagle Bulk Orders Ships

Eagle Bulk Shipping Inc. exercised options for the construction of four 58,000 dwt Supramax vessels from the Sinopacific Shipbuilding Group, the parent of the Yangzhou Dayang Shipbuilding Co. at a contract price of $42.3 million per vessel. The availability of these options was initially reported by Eagle Bulk on August 7, 2007. The addition of these vessels to the Eagle fleet increases the total fleet size to 53 vessels, expands capacity to 2.93 million deadweight tons, and improves the fleet's efficiency by increasing the sister ship total to 45 vessels.
