Kooiman Marine Completes Vessel Conversion for Van Stee Offshore

Dutch shipbuilding group Kooiman Marine has completed the conversion of Van Stee Offshore's new Multi-Purpose DP-2 Support Vessel Zwerver I.Kooiman Marine said Wednesday that the final work on the vessel has been completed and the “Zwerver I” is ready to be deployed. After having already designed and built three vessels for Van Stee offshore, former HvS Dredging Support, this is the first vessel conversion that Kooiman Marine Group has realized for Van Stee.The average bollard pull of the “Zwerver I’’ consists of 66T with a maximum value of 69T.

AVEVA, DNV GL's Sesam Integration Cuts Cost

Integration of Aveva and DNV GL's Sesam Reduces Costs in Maritime and Offshore Engineering. Engineers designing ship hulls and offshore floaters can now save time and money in the early design phase due to a breakthrough allowing transfer of 3D models from AVEVA Marine to Sesam GeniE, the two leading design and engineering software systems in the maritime and offshore market. The new functionality, initiated by AVEVA to respond to the demand of the market, allows users to transfer AVEVA hull models into DNV GL’s Sesam GeniE for strength assessment and code check according to DNV GL Rules. BMT Restructures Marine Survey Businesses

To better position itself in the market and meet customers’ needs of regional expertise accessible through local offices, BMT Group Ltd (BMT) has announced that marine surveying companies BMT De Beer and BMT Techmar became BMT Surveys on the May 1, 2013. This will help provide clarity and a more uniformed approach, whilst paving the way for future expansion both in Europe and further afield. This name change will see BMT Techmar become BMT Surveys (Antwerp) with BMT De Beer becoming BMT Surveys (Rotterdam) supported by additional offices in Amsterdam, Harlingen, Delfzijl and Jakarta.

BMT De Beer Publishes Guidelines for Reefer Sector

In a bid to help reduce costly compensation claims and minimize the potential loss which can occur when transporting chilled and frozen foodstuffs, independent marine survey and consultancy, BMT De Beer, has published a complete set of guidelines for the reefer sector. Based on a typical 40ft container, the value of such goods, including shellfish can reach a staggering 400,000 Euros. Titled ‘BMT De Beer’s Consolidated Manual on Storage and Transport of Chilled and Frozen Foodstuffs’ this guide provides invaluable information for those involved in the transportation of this refrigerated cargo. After a general introduction on transport and controlled atmospheric conditions, the manual focuses on specific topics such as meat (chilled and frozen), fish and poultry.
