Royal HaskoningDHV appoints two new leaders at Corporate level for Finance & Control and Global HR Services: Jasper de Wit has been named Corporate Director Finance & Control per January 1, 2017, and Abhishek Kaushal has been appointed to lead Global HR Services per December 12, 2016. Jasper de Wit joined the company in 2005. In his last role he was responsible for Corporate Controlling. Jasper succeeds Nynke Dalstra who was appointed CFO in November 2016. Abhishek Kaushal joins Royal HaskoningDHV from AkzoNobel where he was responsible for AkzoNobel’s HR transformation agenda for the South East South Asia region. Before joining AkzoNobel in 2012, he worked in various HR roles at Genpact.

Dutch-based Peters Shipyards introduces revolutionary Inland Shipping concept. Planned, developed and built by Dutch Peters Shipyards, located in Kampen, a unique inland tanker is now the world’s first river vessel driven by combustion engines consuming purely natural gas. In April, the innovative new vessel was handed over to its time charterer, Shell Netherlands, who will operate the “MTS Greenstream,” via Interstream Barging, between the Netherlands and Germany; primarily on the river Rhine.

German engineers have strengthened the Schottel offering through the development of a propulsor which melds technical design and performance features of the company's proprietary, azimuthing Rudderpropeller series with those of electric podded drives. The resulting hybrid system, known as the Schottel Combi Drive (SCD) and distinguished by its compactness and inboard placement of the integral electric motor, has been designed for unit power applications in the 1,900 to 3,800-kW range. The innovative new product employs proven mechanical elements from the Rudderpropeller design and the latter's optimized-efficiency, Twin-Propeller (STP) version.

Shell Gas & Power said on Tuesday short-term liquefied natural gas (LNG) contracts will become common within the next decade. Shell Gas & Power President Peter de Wit said that because of the heavy cost of building the fixed infrastructure needed to deliver LNG, almost all contracts are long-term at present, but buyers are seeking flexibility. "We could see 25 percent of contracts over time will probably become short-term contracts," de Wit said. De Wit, who is also the director of Shell's Asia-Pacific gas business, said short-term contracts, which may last a few months up to a few years, could be common in 5-10 years time. Buyers like Korea Gas Corp (KOGAS) - the world's single largest LNG importer - want the flexibility, de Wit said.
