Damen, Maris Join Forces to Tackle Seaweed

Dutch shipbuilding giant and Maris Projects, a player in marine and oceanographic data management services,  have joined forces to tackle the issue of invasive Sargassum seaweed in the Caribbean region – including the Dutch Caribbean Islands.The partners are working towards the developments of a holistic solution. The work of the two companies is expected to greatly increase knowledge of bio-processing, leading to the design of efficient and scalable technologies with the capability to deliver both environmental and socio-economic benefits.A significant – and to date, inexplicable – rise in the quantity of Sargassum in Caribbean waters and along its shores, has been recorded in recent years. The weed is causing considerable problems in the region.

Intellian Launches VSAT Technology

Intellian has made a significant advance in technology for Ku-band VSAT antennas, allowing operators to be prepared for any changes in the future operational regions of their vessels or changes in service providers. The introduction of the ground-breaking and patent-pending Intellian Global PLL LNB, presents the world’s first Ku-band LNB module capable of receiving a full range of operating frequencies from any VSAT satellite around the globe. This means that operators will no longer need to change the LNB in the antenna. The new Intellian Global PLL LNB is a dedicated solution designed for global operation. Users can define the required LO (Local Oscillator) frequency or select from a pre-programmed LO library in the Intellian antenna control unit.

Guangxin Shipbuilding Selects AVEVA MARS

AVEVA (LSE:AVV), announced that GUANGXIN Shipbuilding & Heavy Industry Co. Ltd (GSHI) selected AVEVA MARS, AVEVA’s enterprise resource management system. GSHI, formerly ’GMG Shipbuilding & Heavy Industry’, is a Chinese-foreign joint venture specialising in the research and manufacture of offshore vessels and other special purpose ships, selected AVEVA MARS in a competitive tender. MARS, the dedicated solution that optimises project control, logistics, materials management, production, resources and planning, was specifically designed for shipyards. It will be implemented in GSHI’s Zhongshan City shipyard and the contract will see an initial 100 concurrent users.
