OPEC+ Outlines Record Oil Production Cut; Mexico Balks

OPEC, Russia and other allies outlined plans on Thursday to cut their oil output by more than a fifth and said they expected the United States and other producers to join in their effort to prop up prices hammered by the coronavirus crisis.But the group, known as OPEC+, said a final agreement was dependent on Mexico signing up to the pact after it balked at the production cuts it was asked to make. Tullow Launches Deepwater FPSO Despite Glut

Tullow not for sale but could be take-over target - COO. Amid one of the deepest oil price crashes in history, Britain's Tullow Oil is sending one of the world's biggest floating deep-water oil production platforms to West Africa to pump crude for at least 20 years. The 340-metre long production vessel, named after late Ghanaian president Prof John Evans Atta Mills, was converted in Singapore from a Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC) super-tanker, and is expected to set sail this weekend to Ghana, where it is scheduled to gradually ramp up production from the TEN deepwater oilfield from July/August this year, the company's chief operating officer Paul McDade said on Thursday.

Transocean Rig Deepwater Horizon Extension

Transocean Ltd. (NYSE:RIG) announced that its ultra-deepwater semisubmersible rig Deepwater Horizon has been awarded a three-year contract extension by a subsidiary of BP p.l.c. (NYSE:BP) for operations in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico commencing in September 2010. Estimated contracted revenues related to the three-year contract extension are approximately $544m. Estimated contract revenues represent the maximum amount of revenues that may be earned in the firm contract period, excluding revenues for mobilization, cost escalations, customer reimbursed equipment and miscellaneous adjustments. The Deepwater Horizon is one of 41 High-Specification Floaters in the Transocean fleet, 20 of which are ultra-deepwater drillships and semisubmersible rigs.

Transocean Drills Deepest Oil and Gas Well

Transocean Ltd. (NYSE:RIG)announced that its ultra-deepwater semisubmersible rig Deepwater Horizon recently drilled the deepest oil and gas well ever while working for BP and its co-owners on the Tiber well in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico. Working with BP, the Transocean crews on the Deepwater Horizon drilled the well to 35,050 vertical depth and 35,055 feet measured depth (MD), or more than six miles, while operating in 4,130 feet of water.
