Ocean-going Patrol Vessel Delivered to RNN by Damen

In Harlingen the third of four Holland Class Oceangoing Patrol Vessels, "Friesland" built by Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding for the Royal Netherlands Navy, was transferred to the Defence Materiel Organization of the Ministry of Defence of the Netherlands. After delivery the Friesland will directly start an extensive testing and work-up program, yet without the Thales Integrated Mast Module (IMM), which will be installed early 2014. The four vessels of the Holland Class OPV's measure 108 metres in length and 16 metres in width with a displacement of approximately 3750 tons.

Schelde Awarded Contract for Patrol Vessels

The Netherlands' Defence Materiel Organization (DMO) and Schelde Naval Shipbuilding signed a contract for the supply of four Patrol Vessels. The contract has a value of 240 million euros. The four Patrol Vessels will be built for the Royal Netherlands Navy, and are to be delivered in a time-frame between November 2010 and November 2012. Austal Starts Navy Boats

Production has commenced for the Royal Australian Navy’s (RAN) Armidale Class patrol boats. To be built in Western Australia over a 42-month period, the 12 vessel fleet will act as the principal maritime patrol and response element of Australia’s National Civil Surveillance Program. Project partners Austal Ships and Defence Maritime Services (DMS) held a ceremony attended by Senator David Johnston, Senator for Western Australia, representing the Minister for Defence, key personnel from the Department of Defence and Defence Materiel Organization and Patrol Boat Group Commander Captain Peter Marshall, to mark the start of production of the first ship in the class, HMAS Armidale.
