A.P. Moller-Maersk said on Monday it has agreed to sell its 30.75% stake in Russian port operator Global Ports Investments to Russia's largest container operator Delo Group, which also owns a 30.75% stake in the firm.After the divestment, which needs regulatory approval, Maersk's port unit APM Terminals would "no longer be involved in any entities operating in Russia or own any assets in the country," Maersk said in a statement.Maersk put its stake in Global Ports up for sale in March as it decided to quit Russia because of its invasion of Ukraine.

Damen Shipyards Group said it has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with Delo Group of companies, establishing plans to open a service hub in the Russian port of Novorossiysk. According to Damen, the new hub will aim to optimize the services provided to the growing number of Damen vessels operating in the region in addition to strengthening its relationship with the Delo Group. The LOI was signed by representatives from the two companies during the NEVA 2017 trade fair in Saint Petersburg, Russia.

Over the past three years, DELO Group, a Russian private transport company, has implemented an investment program, including rail and other adjacent port infrastructure, construction of stevedoring and inland storage terminals for oil products, construction of the KSK grain terminal, acquisition of 50% of the NUTEP container terminal from its JV partner and an expansion program turning the terminal into a chief container terminal throughout Russian coasts. “We are planning to double capacity at NUTEP from 350,000 to 600 - 700,000 TEU,” said Andrei Bubnov, CFO of DELO Group.

NUTEP, a container terminal operator in the Black Sea port of Novorossiysk, completed the latest phase of its ambitious port development program  with the upgrade of its railway facilities there. The company has removed the original rail lines, constructed a new yard at the rear of the terminal and increased overall block-train capacity at the terminal to 30 trains – about 112 TEU each – a month. The total length of the railway lines is now more than 4km and, at 425m each, the two new loading sidings allow NUTEP to handle two block-trains a day.

The Global Container Service Group (GCS) has added new feeder and short-sea links to the list of services calling at the NUTEP terminal in Novorossiysk. Both GCS and NUTEP are members of the Delo Group. X-Press Feeders has launched the BSX service to Novorossiysk, Odessa and other Black Sea ports by adding a vessel to Evergreen’s Black Sea feeder (BSF). Azerbaijain Investing Company and STX Shipbuilding Co. signed the memorandum of understanding for plans to build a shipyard to produce and repair tankers in Garadaga (the region of Baku), reports Delo quoting Reuters. According to Riad Gasymov, the assistance of the chief executive of Azerbaijain Investing Company, the investments and the building period will be announced in June-July of the current year when the technical and economical basis will be ready. It is planned that the share of STX will total 75%, the share of Azerbaijain Investing Company - 25%. At the present time Azerbaijan has 3 shipyards.
