SAFE Boats, COTECMAR to Co-build Colombian Vessels

SAFE Boats International of Bremerton, Wash. announced at 2017 Colombia Mar that it has broadened its previously signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with COTECMAR into a multiyear, definitive Association Agreement to coproduce many of its products already in Colombia. The agreement includes coproduction of SAFE models already in use in Central and South America such as the Defender, Apostle and Full Cabin Jet Boats along with its most recently introduced Multi-Mission Interceptor (MMI).

SAFE Boats Delivers First CIV for Air and Marine Operations

SAFE Boats International (SBI), a manufacturer of aluminum boats located in Bremerton, Wash., has completed the first Coastal Interceptor Vessel (CIV) on contract from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Air and Marine Operations (AMO). A naming ceremony was held at SAFE Boats International facilities on Thursday, May 26, 2016 to name the vessel the Alexandria as well as celebrate the first CIV as SBI’s 2,000 delivered craft. Invitees to the event included CBP Officials, Congressional staff members, local government officials and business people, equipment suppliers and media.

Landay Named SAFE Boats’ Board Director

SAFE Boats International announced that Retired Vice Admiral William E. “Bill” Landay III has been appointed as a Director of the Board at SAFE Boats International. Vice Admiral Landay retired in 2013 after more than 35 years of naval service. His final assignment was as Director of the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) from August 2010 until September 2013. DSCA oversees the U.S. Government's Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program and is responsible for the sale of arms, defense technologies, training and other services to foreign governments.

SAFE Boats Bags Homeland Security Order

SAFE Boats International informs it has been awarded a contract from U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to build up to 52 coastal interceptor vessels (CIV). Should all options be executed, the contract value would exceed $48 million. Bremerton, Wash. Based manufacturer of aluminum vessels SAFE Boats describes its CIV as a 41-foot rugged and maneuverable vessel, capable of high speed interceptions and ultra-tight turns in close proximity to other vessels as well as open ocean speeds over 54 knots.

SAFE Boats Partners with NASBLA

SAFE Boats International announced a Mission Partner Sponsorship with the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA). Signed on July 28, 2014, this agreement unifies the interconnected missions of both organizations to jointly enhance the safety and security of our nation’s waterways by strengthening the abilities and enhancing the knowledge and skills of every maritime law enforcement officer and emergency responder. “We are very proud to call SAFE Boats International our Mission Partner,” says NASBLA Deputy Executive Director John Fetterman.

SAFE Boats to Build 4 More US Navy Mk VI Patrol Boats

SAFE Boats International (SBI) says it has been awarded a contract to provide the United States Navy four additional Mk VI Patrol Boats (Mk VI PB); with options for an additional two boats. The Mk VI PB is the Navy’s next generation Patrol Boat and will become a part of the Navy Expeditionary Combat Command’s (NECC) fleet of combatant craft. SBI explains that according to the contract the Mk VI PBs mission is to provide operational commanders a capability to patrol shallow littoral areas beyond sheltered harbors and bays, and into less sheltered open water out to the Departure Sea Area (DSA) for the purpose of force protection of friendly and coalition forces and critical infrastructure. The 85-foot Mk VI PB is designed for optimal performance, fuel economy, and firepower.

SAFE Boats Delivers Cutter Boat for USCG Arctic Operations

Bremerton, WA., aluminium boat builder SAFE Boats International (SBI) informs that it has delivered the cutter boat 'Over the Horizon IV' (CB-OTH-IV) POLAR to the 420-foot Ice Breaker, USCG Cutter Healy. The CB-OTH-IV POLAR has a modified outfit package different from the standard 26-foot CB-OTH-IV parent craft which SBI has been delivering to the U.S. Coast Guard since 2013 as part of a multi-year, 104 boat contract. Although modified, the vessel maintains the ability to interface with the National Security Fast Response Cutters.

Morris Takes the Helm at SAFE Boats

SAFE Boats International (SAFE) said that Dennis Morris has joined the organization as President and CEO. Morris brings with him an extensive background in Business Development and International marketing within the defense industry and experience leading large and small businesses. Before joining SAFE Boats International, Morris held the position of President and CEO of Allen-Vanguard Corporation, the leader in providing solutions for defeating terrorist and extremist threats. Prior to Allen-Vanguard, Dennis spent over 10 years with BAE Systems, most recently as President of the Global Tactical Systems division and Chairman of the Board of Land Systems South Africa (a joint venture business within GTS).
