Donjon Refloats NY Car Ferry
Donjon Marine Refloats car ferry GOV. HERBERT H. LEHMAN. After a competitive bidding process, in late March 2012 Donjon Marine was awarded a job to refloat the 277-foot Ex-Staten Island, NY car ferry Gov. Herbert H. Lehman. The vessel sank in the Hudson River while in layup in Newburg, NY. After almost four weeks of patching and test-pumping the submerged hull, and with the use of Donjon’s 1000-ton capacity Derrick Barge Chesapeake 1000 to stabilize the vessel during refloating, the ferry was successfully refloated and returned to owners.
Donjon Completes Contract on Grand Bahama
On November 28, Donjon Marine, Co., Inc., a provider of multi-faceted marine services including marine salvage, heavy lift, dredging, recycling, demolition and related emergency response services, completed heavy lift work for Grand Bahama Shipyard Limited on Grand Bahama Island. The Donjon tug Mary Alice and derrick-barge Chesapeake 1000 assisted the shipyard with the lifting, transport and placement of a pre-fabricated module weighing approximately 375 metric tons for the Holland America Lines’ Rotterdam cruise ship.
Donjon Provides Diving and Salvage Services to Dredge
Donjon Marine Co., Inc. uses its salvage and related emergency response service equipment, the 1,000-ton capacity derrick barge Chesapeake 1000 and 400-ton capacity derrick barge Columbia New York to supply heavy lift, diving and related salvage services to the dredge New York which sustained considerable damage after being struck by another vessel while in Newark Bay, New Jersey in January. Donjon Marine, Co., Inc., was contracted by owners of the 200-ft.-long excavator style dredge New York to supply heavy lift, diving and related salvage services after the dredge was struck by the 669-ft.
