Solstad Wins Contract with CUEL Thailand

Norway’s Solstad Offshore ASA has been been awarded a contract with CUEL Limited, Thailand for the derrick lay barge DLB Norce Endeavour in the Gulf of Thailand. According to the contract the 2011-built unit will be used for the provision of transportation and installation for Phase 4 of JDA Block B-17-01. The DLB Norce Endeavour will install 3 new wellhead platforms, 3 subsea pipelines and host tie-ins for CUEL Limited with the offshore work to start in Q3-2017 and comple in Q1-2018 with a combined forecast utilization of the DLB Norce Endeavour of around 60 days. Chevron Hires Norce Endeavour for Thailand Ops

Solstad Offshore ASA (SOFF) has fixed the 2011-built 18,000 dwt crane barge Norce Endeavour to Chevron for work in Thailand next year for around 200 days. Solstad has received confirmation from Chevron in Thailand for the 2016 Offshore Installation Campaign utilizing its Derrick Lay Barge (DLB) Norce Endeavour. Norce Endeavour, which can accommodate 256 people, will install multiple new wellhead platforms and subsea pipelines for Chevron in the Gulf of Thailand. Offshore DLG Chartered Out by Solstad Offshore

Substantial charter agreement for Solstad's offshore Derrick Lay Barge (DLB) "Norce Endeavour" by Australia's Leighton Contractors. DLB "Norce Endeavour" will work at the Gorgon LNG Jetty and Marine Structures on Barrow Island, Western
Australia. Solstad will also provide project management and engineering to support the DLB scope of works and
 operation from Solstad's offices in Singapore and Perth, Western Australia. The mobilisation of Norce Endeavour will start in October 2012 after completion of existing charter. The contract value is confidential between the parties.

Keppel O&M Clinches More Contracts

Keppel Offshore & Marin Ltd (Keppel O&M), through its subsidiaries, Keppel Shipyard Limited (Keppel Shipyard) and Keppel FELS Limited (Keppel FELS), has secured contracts worth $114.8m for a Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel conversion, a Derrick Lay Barge completion and the life extension of a semisubmersible rig. Keppel Awarded 3 Projects

Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd (Keppel O&M), through Keppel Shipyard Limited (Keppel Shipyard) and Keppel FELS Brasil SA (Keppel FELS Brasil), has secured three contracts worth a total of about S$300m. The first two projects, secured by Keppel Shipyard from repeat customers, are for the construction of a derrick lay barge and the modification of a Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel. The third project is awarded by a new customer, Noble Drilling (Nederland) B.V., to Keppel FELS Brasil, through BrasFELS, for the completion of a deep drilling semisubmersible (semi).

Cathelco Joint Venture, Brazil

The resurgence of shipbuilding in Brazil has led Cathelco to set up a joint venture with Workship do Brasil, Rio de Janeiro based marine equipment suppliers, which will now be known as Cathelco Brasil. Cathelco, based in the UK, is a manufacturer of marine pipework anti-fouling systems and impressed current cathodic protection (ICCP) systems for ships, FPSOs and semi-submersibles. Horizon Offshore Reports Third Quarter Earnings

Horizon Offshore, Inc. $2.8 million. This compares with net income of $3.7 million, for the third quarter of 2000. the third quarter of 2001, the company reported gross profit of $7.7 million, or 12.6 percent, on contract revenues of $61.0 million, compared with gross profit of $10.3 million, or 18.2 percent, on contract revenues of $56.3 million in 2000. Horizon also reported net income for the nine months ended September 30, 2001, of $10.3 million. This compares with net income of $5.0 million, for the nine months ended September 30, 2000. gross profit was $17.9 million, or 16.5 percent, on contract revenues of $108.8 million for the first nine months of 2000. J. Ray McDermott’s Mid-East Lay Barge

Since 1960, J. Ray McDermott's Middle Eastern facility has fabricated and installed over 630 structures, 330,693ST of steel, and has installed over 2,610 miles of pipeline throughout the Arabian Gulf, Egypt, India, the Caspian, Africa and the North Sea. Recently they have upgraded one of the assets that make these remarkable numbers possible. The firm’s Derrick Lay Barge-27, owned by Hydro Marine Services but operated by McDermott, now has an impressive set of specifications. At 420 x 128 x 28 ft. this is a big platform. The barge’s main crane gives it some big capabilities. The Clyde Model 76DE-revolving crane is capable of lifting 1400 tons with its 235-ft. main boom at 115 ft. The auxiliary boom extends to 270 ft. and can lift 750 tons at 160 ft. while the whip extends to 300 ft.

Horizon Offshore Announces Award of Southeast Asia Award

Horizon Offshore, Inc. announced that P. T. Gunanusa Utama Fabricators of Indonesia recently awarded its subsidiary, P. T. Horizon Offshore Indonesia, a subcontract to perform offshore construction services in connection with a project for TotalFinaElf in Southeast Asia. Services provided by P. T. Horizon Offshore Indonesia will include project management, pre- and post-lay surveys and the installation and burial of a twenty-inch pipeline offshore Balikpapan, Indonesia. Willbros Purchases Barge for West African Marine Work

Willbros Group Inc. subsidiary, Willbros West Africa Inc., has added to its available offshore fleet with the completion of the purchase and refitting of the WB 82. The WB 82 is a 100 ton derrick/work barge, 78.8 meters (256 feet) in length overall (LOA), with an 8 point anchor system and accommodations for up to 135 persons. The WB 82 will join the WB 318 combination derrick/lay barge and the M/V Eros support vessel in providing comprehensive construction services to the Nigerian offshore market, with the current backlog assignment expected to last through the second quarter of 2002. Stolt Offshore Records High Lay Rate in GOM

Crediting the project team, crew dedication and new pipelay technology for the Gulf of Mexico, Stolt Offshore project manager William Dick announced a high lay-rate achievement on the Williams East Breaks large-diameter pipelay shelf project offshore Texas in the Gulf of Mexico. The shelf pipeline will gather gas production from the proposed deepwater Boomvang/Nansen spars for market delivery and processing. Dick advises that on June 28, “Derrick/lay barge 801” achieved its highest lay rate of 327 joints in a single day on 24-inch diameter pipe with .562-inch wall thickness. “There are not a lot of vessels worldwide—which lay large-diameter pipe—that can beat that achievement.
