Quickly and intelligently copy ship design data between projects for reuse on similar designs to reduce costs. Groot Ship Design Signs Contract with Sundong
On May 15, 2012 at Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) a unique contract was signed between Groot Ship Design from Leek (the Netherlands), Sundong shipyard (Korea) and owner PBHH/BH livestock Vessel SDN BHD (Malaysia) for the design and delivery of two types of livestock carriers. Of each type the Korean yard will build 5 vessels for PBHH/BH Livestock. Wärtsilä Designed AHTS Delivered to COSL
Two new Wärtsilä designed Anchor Handling Tug Supply (AHTS) vessels were delivered from the Wuchang Shipbuilding Industry Group yard in China during the second week of September. The ships have been built for China Oilfield Services Ltd (COSL), the largest fleet owner of offshore service vessels in China. The delivery of these two ships follows the success of the Wärtsilä designs for four AHTS and two Platform Supply Vessels (PSV) delivered in 2015 to the same customer, and which are now in regular operation.

The steel cutting ceremony of the first project designed with the FORAN system by CIMC Ocean Engineering Design and Research Institute Co., Ltd. (CIM ORIC) was held in the Chinese shipyard Zhoushan Changhong International Shipyard Co., Ltd. on September 23. CIMC ORIC is a subsidiary company of the Group CIMC which is dedicated to research on ship design and marine equipment. CIMC ORIC implemented the FORAN system in December 2015. Ulstein Design to be Built by Merwede
Solstad Offshore ASA signed a Letter of Intent with Dutch Merwede Shipyard to build an Ulstein P105 platform supply vessel, which signed a contract with reservations with Ulstein Design AS regarding the delivery of a design and equipment package worth a total of more than NOK 70 million. "This is Ulstein Design's first contract outside the Ulstein Group and is very important for us," says Ulstein Design's President, Tore Ulstein. The first Ulstein P105 platform supply vessel was built in 2003, and earlier this year contracts were signed for two new construction projects and one option.

Ocean Tug & Barge Engineering Corp.'s new Atlantic III ATB ocean tugboat design was selected by Bay Shipbuilding Corp., a unit of Manitowoc Corp., for construction as the powered portion of a new articulated tug barge (ATB) the yard will build for Penn Maritime, of Stamford, Conn. The 140,000 bbl capacity heated ocean tank barge, will be handled by the latest tug design from Ocean Tug & Barge Engineering Corp., a long established firm whose focus is ATB design. The new tug, equipped with the Intercon connection system, measures 123 x 38-ft., and is powered by twin EMD 12-710G main engines, for a total of 6,000 bhp. The tug will also be built to fit the notches of Penn's other Intercon ATB barges. Robert P.
