Mitsui OSK Gets AiP for Liquefied CO2 Vessel, Floating Storage Unit

Japanese shipping company Mitsui O.S.K Lines (MOL) 9104.T has received in-principle approvals for a liquefied CO2 vessel and a floating storage and offloading unit (FSO) from the American Bureau of Shipping, its Chief Executive Takeshi Hashimoto said on Wednesday.The vessel and the FSO were developed by the company along with Malaysia's state-run oil company Petronas and Shanghai Merchant Ship Design and Research Institute, Hashimoto said in a statement.The statement gave no further…

Kongsberg to Supply Simulators for NigerianTraining Center

PEM Offshore Limited signed a multi-million dollar contract with Kongsberg Maritime for the supply of a full suite of Offshore Anchor Handling, Dynamic Positioning, Power Management and Crane Simulation systems. The new simulators will form the main infrastructure for a world-class offshore simulation training center and the first of its kind in Nigeria and West Africa. Liberia Approves Seagull Security Training Package

Maritime Training specialist, Seagull, has secured Liberia’s approval for its unique Security training package. Liberian approval comes little more than a month after Seagull announced that it had been awarded Norwegian Maritime Authority (NMA) approval for the new security training package, which is to be made available in October. Seagull has sent application for approval to a number of other flag states. Receiving Liberian approval so shortly after getting NMA approval underscores industry recognition of the importance of Seagull’s courses in ensuring seafarers are trained properly in all security matters. Shipowners can now be confident that their seafarers can demonstrate the necessary competency and proficiency.

Resolve Maritime Academy and Royal Caribbean Cruises to join forces to deliver state-of-the-art simulator-based safety and navigation training for Royal Caribbean cruise ship personnel. Resolve Maritime Academy and Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. announced today that plans are underway for new simulation-based training programs to enhance safety at sea for the cruise line’s personnel and guests. In 2011, Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. (RCL) selected Resolve to be their exclusive provider of all simulator-based training courses, and formalized arrangements to jointly develop the new programs.

Royal Caribbean's Adventure of the Seas Arrives in N.Y. Harbor

A clear, sunny Saturday afternoon of November 10, set the stage for the arrival of the first passenger ship into New York Harbor following the September 11 terrorist attacks. The vessel, Royal Caribbean's Adventure of the Seas, sailed into New York for a two-day tribute cruise for the families of the fallen firemen and police officers who were victim to the devastation at the World Trade Center. Royal Caribbean also plans to donate $50,000 to the Twin Towers Relief Fund. The 142,000-ton Adventure of the Seas - sister ship to Voyager and Explorer of the Seas - was christened at Pier 88 and named by representatives of the New York Police Department and New York Fire Department.
