Keppel FELS Delivers Largest Rig to Maersk

Keppel FELS Limited has delivered the ultra-harsh jackup rig, Maersk Integrator, to Maersk Drilling, a wholly owned subsidiary of A.P. Moller - Maersk A/S, thirty days ahead of schedule, on budget and with a perfect safety record. The rig was named at a ceremony today in Keppel FELS by Ms Margareth Øvrum, Executive Vice President, Technology, Projects and Drilling, Statoil. Maersk Integrator is an XL Enhanced (XLE) harsh environment jackup rig and the third in the XLE series delivered to Maersk Drilling. It has been customised for operations in the North Sea and has been chartered on a four year term by Statoil for development drilling in the Gina Krog field in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea.

Det Norske Employs Aveva's Solution

AVEVA announced that Det norske oljeselskap ASA (Det norske), has begun deployment of AVEVA’s Progressive Handover Solution to manage Life Cycle Information for the high profile Ivar Aasen field project. The AVEVA solution allows Det norske to benefit from improved information quality within its projects and to reduce the time it takes to access key technical information. AVEVA’s Progressive Handover Solution is made possible by AVEVA’s industry leading Digital Information Hub technology enabling Det norske to accept data from various sources, regardless of software system. By utilising dashboard reporting with its EPC, Det norske can monitor information that will be automatically and progressively updated throughout the project.

Keppel Delivers World’s Largest Jackup Rig to Maersk

Keppel FELS Limited has delivered the jackup rig XLE-2 to Maersk Drilling, a wholly owned subsidiary of A.P. Moller - Maersk A/S, on budget and seven days ahead of schedule. The rig, which will be named at a ceremony in Norway in October 2014, is a XL Enhanced (XLE) harsh environment jackup rig. It has been customised for operations in the North Sea and has been chartered by Det norske oljeselskap ASA (Det norske) for deployment in the Ivar Aasen project in Norway for five years. Mr Chow Yew Yuen, CEO of Keppel Offshore & Marine (Keppel O&M), said, “This is the largest rig in the world and we are proud to have delivered it seven days ahead of schedule. Second Jack-up Rig Joins Maersk Drilling’s Fleet

Maersk Drilling has taken delivery of its second ultra harsh environment jack-up, XLE-2, from the Keppel FELS shipyard in Singapore on time. The rig will start its mobilisation to the Norwegian North Sea in approximately two weeks, where it will commence a five year contract with Det norske oljeselskap ASA (Det norske) The rig, which will be named at a ceremony in Norway in October, is the second in a series of four newbuild ultra harsh environment jack-up rigs to enter Maersk Drilling’s rig fleet in 2014-16. Claxton Wins its Biggest Riser Contract Offshore Norway

Gas and Oil Discoveries in the Askja Prospects

Operator Statoil has together with PL272 partners made a gas discovery in the Askja West prospect and an oil discovery in the Askja East prospect in the North Sea. The exploration wells  30/11-9 S and 30/11-9 A, drilled by the drilling rig Ocean Vanguard, are located between the Oseberg and Frigg fields and about 13 km southeast of the Statoil-operated Krafla/Krafla West discoveries. Main wellbore 30/11-9 S tested the Askja West prospect and proved a net gas column of 90 metres in Late and Middle Jurassic rocks.

Blue Guardian Ready for the North Sea

The platform supply vessel Blue Guardian was delivered from Ulstein to Blue Ship Invest on June 28, 2013. The vessel is contracted to work in the North Sea. Blue Guardian is the fifth in a series of six platform supply vessels (PSV) of the PX121 design from Ulstein Verft, and the vessel is under the management of Remøy Shipping. From mid-July, the ship has been contracted by Det Norske Oljeselskap ASA and Repsol Exploration respectively, to support the jack-up rig Maersk Giant in its work on two subsea wells on the Norwegian continental shelf in the North Sea.

New PSV from Ulstein to Support North Sea Wells

Ulstein’s yno 298, Blue Guardian, a platform supply vessel of the Ulstein PX121 design, has been contracted to support the jack-up rig Maersk Giant in its work on two subsea wells on the Norwegian continental shelf in the North Sea. The contracts with Det Norske Oljeselskap ASA and Repsol Exploration, respectively, have an estimated total duration of four months. Blue Guardian is in her final phase of construction, and is scheduled for delivery from Ulstein Verft at the turn of this month. The estimated start-up of the contractual work is in mid-July.

Newbuild Jack-up Rig Charter Exended

Maersk Drilling receives two-year term extension for newbuild jack-up rig 'XL Enhanced 2'. Det Norske Oljeselskap ASA (Det norske) has on behalf of the partners in the Ivar Aasen project, exercised its contractual right to extend the contract for the newbuild ultra harsh environment jack-up, XL Enhanced 2, by two years. Consequently, the duration of the firm contract is now five years. The estimated value of the two-year contract extension is approximately USD 280 million, bringing the total estimated contract value to approximately USD 700 million. Det norske has options to extend the contract up to a total of seven years. The rig is currently under construction at the Keppel FELS shipyard in Singapore.

EMAS Wins $165m Norwegian North Sea Contract

EMAS AMC, the subsea services division of EMAS, a global offshore contractor and provider of integrated offshore solutions to the oil and gas industry, was awarded an engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) contract, valued at approximately US$165 million, from Det norske oljeselskap ASA, an exploration and drilling operator on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. The contract is for rigid pipe-lay and related subsea work, in the Ivar Aasen field in the Norwegian North Sea.

Sembcorp Marine to Ink Offshore Platform Contract

Sembcorp Marine subsidiary SMOE secures a Letter of Intent for an EPC Contract to build an offshore platform integrated topside. The contract worth about S$900 million, is from Det norske oljeselskap ASA, Norway, for engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of the process, drilling and quarters Platform (pdQ) topsides to be installed at a water depth of 112 metres for the Ivar Aasen development in the North Sea. The Ivar Aasen project is situated west of the Johan Sverdrup-field in the Norwegian Continental Shelf, 180km west of Stavanger, containing approximately 150 million barrels of oil equivalents. Barents Sea Drillers Strike Gas, Expected Oil

Eni, with partners Lundin and Det Norske hoped for oil but discovered gas & condensate at the Salina structure in western part of the Barents Sea. Det norske oljeselskap ASA earlier announced the discovery of hydrocarbons in the Salina prospect in production license 533, operated by Eni. The well confirmed the existence of gas in two reservoir units; in the Cretaceous Knurr formation, and in the Jurassic Stø formation. The well was drilled to a total depth of 2,371 meters below sea level, down to Triassic rock in the Snadd formation. The operator’s estimate of recoverable gas volumes is between six and eight billion cubic meters (40-50 million barrels of oil equivalents).

Umbilical Contract Awarded to Aker Solutions

Aker Solutions has been selected to supply a subsea umbilical to Det norske oljeselskap ASA's Jette field. The order is worth approximately NOK 60 million. Det norske's initial order is for six kilometres of static electro-hydraulic stainless steel umbilical. The umbilical will include electrical and hydraulic functions, in addition to a three inch gas lift line and methanol injection. Subsea umbilicals are deployed on the seabed to supply necessary control and chemicals to subsea oil  and gas wells, subsea manifolds and any subsea system requiring a remote control. Engineering and project management will be provided from Aker Solutions' Oslo headquarters. Manufacturing will take place at Aker Solutions' umbilical facility in Moss, Norway. The estimated delivery date is Q3, 2012.

Statoil Announces Discovery

Statoil, together with partners Petoro AS, Det norske oljeselskap ASA and Lundin Norway AS, has drilled the Aldous Major North prospect (PL 265) in the North Sea. Samples taken from well 16/2-9S, drilled by the rig Transocean Leader, have proved a column of oil of up to 8 metres in formations dating from the Upper Jurassic period. Due to the limited reservoir quality, the partnership will consider further exploration drilling on Aldous Major North in order to clarify the structure’s potential. Well 16/2-9S was drilled some 12 kilometres north of the Aldous Major South oil discovery (16/2-8).

Statoil and Partners Discover High-Impact Oil Well

Statoil ASA and partners Petoro AS, Det norske oljeselskap ASA and Lundin Norway AS have made a high-impact oil discovery on the Aldous Major South prospect (PL 265) in the North Sea. Well 16/2-8, drilled by the Transocean Leader drilling rig, has identified an approximately 65-meter oil column in Jurassic sandstone. Kvaerner Announces Election of New Board Members

The Directors to Kvaerner's Board have been elected. From Kvaerner's first day of trading on the Oslo Stock Exchange in July 2011, the Board of Directors will consist of five shareholder-elected members as well as three members elected by Kvaerner's employees. The shareholder-elected members are Kjell Inge Røkke (chairman), Tore Torvund, Bruno Weymuller, Lone Fønss Schrøder and Vibeke Hammer Madsen. The employee-elected members are Rune Rafdal, Ståle Knoff Johansen and Bernt Harald Kilnes. Kjell Inge Røkke is an entrepreneur and industrialist, and has been a driving force in the development of Aker since the 1990s. Mr. Røkke owns 67.8 percent of Aker ASA through The Resource Group TRG AS.

Oil Discovery in The North Sea

Oil has been proven by Statoil and its partners Det norske oljeselskap ASA and Svenska Petroleum Exploration AS on the North Sea Krafla prospect. The well is located in block 30/11 around 26 kilometres south of the Oseberg South field. Based on preliminary calculations the size of the discovery is between 12.5 and 56.5 million barrels of recoverable oil equivalent. ”Statoil has had great exploration success in mature areas during the last years,” says Gro Gunleiksrud Haatvedt, Statoil’s head of exploration on the Norwegian continental shelf (NCS).
