Caterpillar Debuts MaK M 25 E Engine Platform

Caterpillar Marine announced the launch of the MaK M 25 E engine platform at the 2014 SMM Exhibition, held September 9 -12 in Hamburg, Germany. Developed for state-of-the-art vessel designs with an emphasis on fuel savings, the platform was specifically designed to address the evolving global marine industry requirements while maximizing operators’ bottom line. Key product features include optimized engine performance as well as an efficient part load range, which can help to save up to 40 tons of fuel a year when operating vessels at variable engine speed.

Upgraded MaK Engine Gets Power Boost

To help commercial marine customers better adjust to new operation profiles and evolving emissions regulations in the global marine industry, Caterpillar Marine announced the development of new features and increased power ratings for the MaK M 25 C propulsion engine, a commercial marine engine platform with over 1,000 installations in marine applications and vessels. Caterpillar Develops Second Dual Fuel Engine

Caterpillar Marine Power Systems announce the development of the MaK M 34 DF, a new marine dual fuel engine platform for the commercial marine industry. The M 34 DF dual fuel engine boasts a power rating of 500 kW per cylinder at 720 and 750 rpm in diesel and gas modes, and will share the same footprint as the highly successful M 32 C engine series. The M 34 DF will be capable of running on natural gas as an alternative to marine diesel oil or large and complex scrubber installations for Emission Control Areas (ECA) operation as of 2015. First engine deliveries are foreseen for October 2014.
