Safely, efficiently lifting and handling increasingly heavy loads takes a hefty dose of the latest heavy lift products and systems. Rolls-Royce is a ubiquitous and growing force in all matters maritime, inching toward the one-stop-shop premise. It is particularly well known in the deck machinery sector, and it recently signed a deal with Detroit Chile SA to supply offshore cranes to nine PSVs under construction at Detroit Brasil Ltda. shipyard, in Itajaì, Brazil. The order includes nine ship sets of the dual draglink crane, making 18 cranes in total.

Brazilian PSVs Get Rolls-Royce Offshore Cranes

Rolls-Royce signed a contract with Detroit Chile SA to supply offshore cranes to nine Platform Supply Vessels (PSVs) presently under construction at Detroit Brasil Ltda. shipyard, in Itajaì, Brazil. The delivery will include nine ship sets of the dual draglink crane, making eighteen cranes in total. Upon completion, the vessels, designed by Guido Perla, will enter service on an eight-year contract with state-owned Brazilian oil company Petrobras. Brazilian Starnav Serviços Marìtimos Ltda, a subsidiary of Detroit Chile, will operate the vessels.

Rolls-Royce Marine H1 2013 Strong Revenue Increase

Revenue increased by 16%, reflecting OE volume from improvement in the Offshore sector, services growth in Offshore and Naval and foreign exchange benefits. However profit decreased by 8% due to adverse revenue mix, pricing pressures and warranty charges, partially offset by cost reduction and favourable foreign exchange. The order book increased 10% including an order intake of £1.7bn (£2.2bn in H1 2012). Rolls-Royce to Supply Offshore Cranes for Brazilian PSVs

Rolls-Royce Plc signed a contract with Detroit Chile SA for the delivery of offshore cranes to four platform supply vessels (PSVs) under construction at Detroit Brasil Ltda. shipyard, in Itajaì, Brazil. The delivery from Rolls-Royce will include four ship sets of the award winning dual draglink crane - eight cranes in total. Upon completion, the vessels designed by Guido Perla, will enter service on an eight-year contract with the state owned Brazilian oil company Petrobras. GPA Signs Contract for Petrobras Vessels

Naval Architecture firm Guido Perla & Associates, Inc. (GPA) signed a contract with the Brazilian Shipyard Detroit Brasil Ltda., a subsidiary of Detroit Chile, to deliver the Basic/Class Design and Detailed / Construction Engineering for four PSV 4500. Throughout the design and engineering process, GPA worked closely with the shipyard to meet all of Petrobras’ requirements for these vessels, which will be owned and operated by Brazilian-based Starnav. During the construction process, GPA will also provide onsite supervision in Itajai, Brazil, at Detroit Brasil Ltda.

MTU Series 4000 Engines Power New SAAM Tugs

The newest two tug boats of the Chilean work boat operator SAAM will be powered by two MTU 16V 4000 M61 engines each vessel. The ASD tugs, both 98.4 ft of total length, have been designed and built by the Detroit Chile Shipyard in Puerto Montt in Chile. The Caranca and Chucao named boats reach a maximum bollard pull of 65 tons, are equipped with HRP rudder propellers and will operate in harbour and offshore services among the coast line of Chile. SAAM as one of the biggest tug boat service suppliers in South America is operating more than 125 vessels all over the continent.
