Voith Taps Reinhardt as President & CEO

Carsten J. Reinhardt Becomes Member of the Corporate Board of Management of Voith GmbH and President and CEO of Voith Turbo GmbH & Co. KG. Heidenheim, Germany June 14, 2012 – This is to announce the appointment of Carsten J. Reinhardt as Member of the Corporate Board of Management of Voith GmbH and as President and CEO of Voith Turbo GmbH & Co. KG. As of July 1, 2012, Reinhardt will succeed Dr. Hubert Lienhard who had held this function since January 1, 2012 in addition to his office as President and CEO of the Corporate Board of Management of Voith GmbH.

GE Gas Turbine Powers First National Security Cutter

Bertholf is the first of class for the U.S. Coast Guard under its Deepwater Program.

GE Marine announces that its LM2500 marine aeroderivative gas turbine now powers the United States Coast Guard’s first National Security Cutter, Bertholf. The cutter recently completed extensive sea trials and was delivered to the U.S. Coast Guard on May 8 by shipbuilder Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding (NGSB).The cutter’s propulsion system consists of one LM2500 gas turbine in a COmbined Diesel And Gas turbine (CODAG) arrangement with two MTU 20V1163 diesel engines. The propulsion system was provided by MTU Detroit Diesel Corporation.

Rolls-Royce Appoints New President, Defense North America

Rolls-Royce announced the appointment of Dennis J. Jarvi as President, Defense North America. He will join the company on July 12 and will lead the company's defense business in North America, succeeding Steve Dwyer, who was appointed Chief Operating Officer of Rolls-Royce Corporation earlier this year. Mr. Jarvi will report directly to James M. Guyette, President & CEO, Rolls-Royce North America Inc. and, as a member of the company's global defense executive team, receive business direction from Colin Green, President - Defense Aerospace, Rolls-Royce. "We are delighted to have Dennis join the Rolls-Royce team," said Mr. Green. 118-ft. Yacht Designed to Travel to 70 Knots

Three Vericor Power Systems' TF50 marine aeroderivative gas turbines have been selected to power the 118 Wallypower high-speed yacht being built by Intermarine Shipyard, Sarzana, Italy for Wally Yacht. This is Wally Yacht's first foray into high-speed power yachts, and the company's initial application of gas turbines. Wally Yacht, based in Monte Carlo, Monaco, is a world-renowned designer of high-speed sailing and power yachts. The 118-ft. yacht will feature three TF50 gas turbines in a Combined Diesel Or Gas (CODOG) turbine configuration. Two TF50s will be used as side or "wing" engines, with one small auxiliary diesel engine connected to each wing engine. The diesels will provide for very slow maneuvering only.

MTU Detroit Diesel Formed

MTU Friedrichshafen (Germany) and Detroit Diesel Corporation (USA) announced the formation of a new division for Off-Highway engine activities, MTU Detroit Diesel. The group will continue to be headquartered in Detroit, Michigan. MTU Detroit Diesel will be a separate division of Detroit Diesel Corporation and will be an integral part of DaimlerChrysler Off-Highway. MTU Detroit Diesel will have responsibility for the application engineering, manufacturing, sale and service for off-highway engine products in marine, construction, industrial, power generation, petroleum and defense markets in the United States, Canada and Mexico. MTU Detroit Diesel was formed through a longstanding partnership between MTU Friedrichshafen GmbH and Detroit Diesel Corporation dating back to 1994.

Detroit Diesel Recognizes Top Suppliers of 2000

Detroit Diesel Corporation (DDC) announced its top suppliers for the year 2000 as measured by its supply chain management program, Continuous Customer Value Improvement (CCVI). DDC evaluates major suppliers quarterly regarding quality, delivery, cost and technical support, with the goal of waste elimination. The three providers named DDC 2000 CCVI Supplier of the Year were Motorola’s Automotive and Industrial Electronic Group (AIEG), Ferry Cap & Set Screw Company and Vibratech. AIEG’s manufacturing facility in Seguin, Texas supplies DDC with electronic control modules for its heavy-duty electronically controlled engines. The Ferry Cap & Set Screw Company of Cleveland, Ohio provides DDC with a variety of specialized, engineered fasteners, while Vibratech of Alden, N.Y.

Detroit Diesel, Volvo Penta Collaboration Concludes

Detroit Diesel Corporation (DDC) and Volvo Penta of the Americas (VPA) have announced a mutual agreement to conclude their successful four-year collaboration which provided Detroit Diesel distribution rights for Compact and 6-16 liter inboard diesel engines and parts in North America. Effective February 1, 1999, Compact diesel inboard engines from 10-102 horsepower as well as 6-16 liter diesel inboard engines from 318-770 horsepower were transitioned back to VPA for engine, parts, sales, distribution, service and warranty.
